Silliness-- BPAL update!

You know the drill-- it's all beneath the cut!

ARIES - Cardinal fire: the essence of identity. Black pepper, honeysuckle, opoponax, dragon’s blood, and wild ginger.

Hmm. I have a lot of Aries in my chart, and it often shows. I don't know that I'd wear this, as it contains dragon's blood, and I don't know that I'd use it ritually. So. Pass.

THE IDES OF MARCH 2007 - A mixture of springtime greenery and classical Roman cologne: rosemary, bergamot, lemon rind and vervain with costus, benzoin, gray amber, cardamom, white narcissus and iris.

I have last year's. It was herbaly, kind of like Irish Spring soap. I'm good with that imp.

OSTARA - Our springtime celebratory perfume is crafted with orris root, bergamot, frankincense, daffodil, orange pulp, attar of rose, jonquil, strawberry leaf, benzoin, violet leaf, copal, honey cakes, sweet cream, and the blossoms of springtime.

I have no idea what this would smell like, but all of those work on me save the orange. I also really like holiday blends. Maybe.

PINK MOON - A sweet and silly compliment to the first breath of Spring! Sugared carnation and phlox!

Ooh. Those work on me. This isn't the same formulation as last year's... this might be fun!

ROUX-GA-ROUX - Spanish moss, swamp jessamine, bog water, cypress, hickory wood, lobelia, sweet flag, wisteria, and marsh milkweed.

Oh no. Jasmine, stank water, and weird flowers. No.

CALICO JACK - Sea air, driftwood, waterlogged kelp, and the memory of plundered spices sprayed over worn leathers, rough musk, and the salty wooden floorboards of the Revenge.

On a man? Hells yes. On me? Likely not.

POISONED APPLE - A perfect, lovely, gleaming red apple whose sweetness masks a swirl of narcotic opium, oleander, and hemlock.

Ooooh. I'm in.

BIEN LOIN D’ICI - red musk, benzoin, caramel accord, golden honey, and spiced Moroccan unguents.

Caramel is deh debil!

CROQUET - Pink lime, pink grapefruit, white nectarine, wild rose, sage, woody patchouli, bergamot, and ornery hedgehog musk.

Eee. This sounds hysterically funny! Springlike and light, if the patchouli isn't too heavy!

THE DODO - Red musk, lemon peel, sugar cane, cassia, white sandalwood, mango, and agarwood.

All of these work on me, but I'm wondering if they work together.

THE KNAVE OF HEARTS - Crushed roses and blackcurrant tarts.

Blackcurrant. Mmm. Yes.

QUEEN ALICE - Carnation, posies, and white amber with a hint of inky treacle, sandy cider, and wooly wine.

This sounds really interesting, and the snob in me wants to know that kind of wine is "wooly."

51 - green mandarin, neroli, honeydew, white amber, guava, freesia, white and green musks hovering over desert scrub, smashed wood, and the dry, biting scent of night air over the Groom Lake salt flats.

Oooh, sounds like a great summer night scent!

SQUIRTING CUCUMBER - Yikes! A spurt of wet, grassy greenness.

Anyone else go somewhere distinctively smutty after reading the title? It can't be just me. Other than that, this sounds like a fun layering note. Yay for spring scents.

VOODOO LILY - Amorphallus, indeed. A breathtakingly exotic, wild, and grossly erotic spicy gold, purple-black, and burgundy lily.

Heh. Amorphallus. The dick jokes just keep coming. Generally, lily is the stankiest on my skin, but there are exceptions. This sounds like it might be dark and lovely. Reviews!

BROWN JENKINS - Dusty white sandalwood and orris root, dry coconut husk, creeping musk, and the residue of ceremonial incense.

Nothing really stands out.

THE DEEP ONES - Black algae, drooping seaweed, salty brine, and crushed coral.

Again with the smelly water!

HERBERT WEST - Aftershave, embalming fluid, and splatterings from a panoply of reanimation reagents.

Nada.

In other news, I remembered my peppermint patty today. I am triumphant!
