Happy Friday!

BPAL of the Day:

Hymn to Proserpine: The darkening amber of faith’s sunset, deepened by the dark fruits of Proserpine.

I absolutely love this one. Like, I love it enough to order a bottle of it. Right off the bat, you get this thick, gooey amber resin scent with a sweet muskiness, and then the pomegranate hits. The synesthesiac in me says that this reminds me of a rich ruby or garnet in a warm golden setting, glinting in candlelight. This one? She is gorgeous.

Also gorgeous-- my hair. tamnonlinear helped me re-dye it last night, and now it is a deep, rich auburn on top and pink on the under layers. I was a little worried while the dye set, because it looked more orangey than red-brown, but when it washed out, I could see how beautiful it turned. I'll take pictures at some point this weekend, but it really looks tons better than the pink/red gold combo I was previously rockin'. At any rate, the color combo I used was Garnier Nutrisse 'Sangria' and Urban Decay 'Red Passion.' It really brings out the blue in my eyes. Thank you, Abby!

Busy weekend ahead. Tonight, I'm going to Friday Night Swing, and as a bonus, madmoisellestar and Max will be there, too. For anyone else in the area who might be interested, it's at the Towson Armory tonight, so check out FridayNightSwing.Com. Tomorrow is some kind of wine tasting thing with sweettoothjonny, and Sunday, tamnonlinear, marinatempest, & I are headed to DC to see Rachel Brice & The Indigo perform!

zenmaster, this means I probably won't be home at 10-- I think I might have to either bump up or bump back a call.

shadowcaptain, we need to pick a day to see Much Ado. Feb. 3rd or 4th works the best for me (Baltimore), or the 10th (DC).

To everyone else in the Baltimore/DC area, The Rude Mechanicals (aka, a hardy chunk of my friendslist) are opening an all-female cast show of Much Ado About Nothing set during WWII. It's got a live swing band, and tons of Rosie the Riveter cool. And it's directed by tompurdue. Here's the deets:

Much Ado About Nothing

January 19, 20, 26, 27: 8 PM-- Sellers Theater, Laurel, MD
February 2, 3: 8 PM-- Meadow Mill, Baltimore, MD
February 4: 4 PM-- Meadow Mill, Baltimore, MD
February 9 & 10: 7:30 PM-- DC Arts Center, Washington, DC
And it's a CityPaper Critics' Pick!

And I know I've been flighty-girl lately. 17flyingfish, aggiebell... Either of you free 9-ish next Thursday night? Or later next Saturday night, after I get back from a family dinner thing? My schedule has been packed to the gills of late and I've been busy here at work, too, so I've been kind of stupidly forgetting to answer voicemails and stuff. I'm sorry for being a total flake. Bad Christina. And Ack! Today is my mother's birthday!

If I haven't replied to a comment or an email or something that I need to reply to, poke me about it, k? I promise that I'm not trying to ignore anyone-- I'm just being a spaz at the moment. I appreciate all your warm thoughts and kindnessess, and if you're new to this journal, hi and welcome!

You know, being social and busy is a good thing. It is. It's exhausting and exhilarating, but resolutely a Good Thing.
