Fighting the Good Fight.

Against this cold, that is. I've managed to quarantine it just to my nose for the most part though liberal application of heat, tea, citrus, and soup. I'm still sneezing more or less non-stop and my nose is practically running the Boston marathon, but at least I don't have the head-foggy, throat-hurty nastiness that generally comes with cold-weather ills.

My Annabean came over tonight, and while we jumped around to bawdy Irish drinking songs, she made a really spicy chicken noodle soup with lots of veggies. Pretty much every meal I've had for the past three days has involved soup, and this was pretty much the best. Cherry tomatoes and garlic really made it.

My roommate will be making chai tomorrow morning, and I'm really looking forward to it. Don't get me wrong, I love Americanized chai-- I've drunk Big Train and Oregon chais for years, and I love how they taste in creamy milk. But with the whole being sick thing, I'm pretty much avoiding all dairy, so Dixie's chai is going to a spicy, warm treat tomorrow. She soaks big chunks of ginger root, cinnamon sticks, and other spices in a simmering pot until the entire place fills with the most to-die-for scent.

Oh! And I got the cutest package from kill_the_sun. Khai sent me a survival kit-- fair trade coffee that's dark and smells absolutely delicious, and Cadbury "Energy" chocolate, which we do not have here in the States. It's supposedly extra rich, and from the square I've tried, this stuff is potent enought to make a chantico drinking chocolate, man. Khai, you're awesome. Thank you so much for thinking of me, and for your note. :)

Alright, I just got out of a steaming shower, and I am going to bed. I was lamenting the lack of GingerSnapped Smooch on the Villainess site, since it's the best scrubby bath thing in oh, ever, but I consoled myself with a Dulces En Fuego one instead. When I'm sick, I go freezing cold and need circulatory warmth, and the Smootches really do it for me. Plus they're cruelty-free. Plus they're woman-owned. More importantly, they're Brooke-owned. I'd been moping about the lack of GingerSnapped, and I poked around a few other e-tailers for gingery scrubbies. There was a marshmallow gingerbread salt-scrub bar that sounded promising, and a ginger cream one, too, but I think at heart, while I might dabble with other etailers, I always end up coming back to the places with consistantly stellar products and customer service. I've never been disappointed with Villainess stuff, and so I figured I'd just try something else while I wait for my favorites to come back into stock.

Anyway, like I said-- plague, ick, bed.
