Dancing at Glen Echo.

Last night at Glen Echo was pretty good. I wasn't terribly impressed with their dance space (a renovated outdoor bumper-car studio), but was told again and again that they generally use the ballroom, but that there was a art show going up there, and so the dance was moved outside. Besides the floor being non-spin-friendly, it was also packed to the gills, man. I think I lost track of how many times I bumped into someone or was bumped into. That said, the crowd was still pretty friendly. Perhaps a little bit more cliquey than FNS, but once we (Abby, Flissy, Steve, and Diana) got out on the floor, the dance offers started to roll in. All of the refreshments had to be paid for, and there was no ballroom thrown in like at FNS, but I still managed to have a good time.

The crowd spread was pretty good. High schoolers straight up to 50/60 year-olds-- a lot of Lindy hoppers. I still don't really know much Lindy, but I made the disclaimer and seemed to get along just fine. There were some really good dancers, though-- I spotted the two that teach Intermediate Lindy at the same time I take Bellydance at The Avalon. I swear, one of the men with whom I danced (named Panther, how could I forget) made me feel like I was in the Dance Dance Olympics or something. Whew. The band had a good singer, but they didn't play a whole lot of fast ones, which would've really disappointed me if it weren't for the fact that I was already doing my best to keep up with the Lindy dancers. Note to self: at least learn the basic, stupid. I'll probably go back, because their 8pm lesson is the Lindy basic.

On top of that, I drove most of the way down to Glen Echo and all the way back with very little problem. I've definitely been doing a lot of driving, as now I'm having dreams about driving. I get this way after I've performed just about any repetitive action for a prolonged period of time.

I also got my care package from medievalmuse! I got wonderful Autumn-colored mini pillar candles that will look wonderful on my altar, a gorgeous burnished-bronze colored scarf, a lovely card from Lisa, Mab, and Frick, and the coolest book about creating a magical home. The photography is absolutely lovely, and I can't wait to get into it. Thank you, sweetheart!

As for me, I just got out of the bath, and I have a couple hours to relax and bum about before I have to leave. Family stuff tonight, driving lesson tomorrow, and I'm seeing my siblings on my father's side tomorrow afternoon. Such is life for a Girl On The Go.
