Chi pots and camel toes.

This morning, in light of Darren Hayes' recent wedding anouncement, I bopped around my room singing to "Affirmation" while getting ready for work. At times, I revel in my complete dorkiness, and I'm okay with that. Occasionally, I like to hug my inner nerd.

Yesterday evening was lovely. Abby and I wandered around historical Ellicott City before bellydancing class, and I really hope that one day I can live in a town with some historical flavor. Big boulders lining the sidewalks, cute curio shoppes with handmade products. As it turns out, there are not one, but two Pagan shops along the main street, but they close at 5pm. If I were going to drop in, I'd have to do it on a weekend. We ate at a little place called Cacao Lane where no two brass lamps were alike, and there was a beautiful Grecian-inspired statuette that apparently depicted a mother about to beat her sleeping child over the head with some sort of bludgeoning instrument. Charming!

Over dinner, I amused her with the horrible passages I've been underlining while reading that Merry Gentry book. I'm only 60 pages from the end now-- thank the lord, the ordeal is almost finished. This very well might be the snarkiest review I'll ever write. The book is a positive train wreck. We also discussed the eccentricities of online fandoms, including the batshittery of Anne Rice and the ubiquitous Crystalwank. I think it speaks to the pervasiveness of Fandom Wank that I am no part of Anne Rice, HP, or LOTR fandoms, and I could still give you a detailed rundown of most large-scale wanks. Though it was kind of unsettling to discuss them with a flesh-and-blood person-- when my online life infuses my real-life conversation, it always feels just a tad bit squicky.

Bellydance was okay-- our regular instructor was out sick, and the fill-in, while very cute, had no idea what we'd learned. Also, I have to learn to stop calling the Chi Pot move 'The Honey Pot.' Ahem. The fill-in did have a gorgeous tattoo, though-- a beautiful tree running up her lower back, with a kundalini snake curled around the trunk. It's exactly the type of tattoo I'd get if I didn't already have one in that location, me being an Earth sign and all. It's both an expression of sensuality and grounding and centering.

Tonight, I'm getting a new fish. Poor Sake has been positively despondent with no one to flare at. I also need to stock up on some more meds-- since he's not been as active, Sake's been hanging at the bottom a bit more, which means slime coat build-up. Anyway, I'm going to try to get one with greenish fins-- he will be christened Wasabi.

And in conclusion, Jesus, it's hot. I need to get a few more gauzy skirts to wear to the office, because the two I own aren't enough. I want to get a nice Autumnal-colored tier skirt that I can wear straight into Fall. I don't generally wear boho-style clothes, but I could stand to widen my closet a bit.
