Listy McListalot.

-- 6/6/06 was pretty uneventful for me. I went to work. I went shopping. I hung out with Sky for a bit. I went to bed early.

-- I have found a place that sells shorts that neither make me look like yo baby mama nor a pre-teen wannabe. That place is H&M, long may her banners wave. I got really cute khaki cargo shorts for $14. They look great with combat boots.

-- I also stopped at Victoria's Secret, as I was in need of a few new bras. That's the problem with having 12-14 lbs. of boobage-- even the best bras stretch. I think I'm going to have to order my no-padding push-ups from the site from here on out-- it looks like the stores have really cut back their range. Regardless, I got two convertible bras yesterday-- one black, one beige. I'm generally not fond of their Angels line because they don't offer a whole lot of support, but the Secret Embrace strapless convertable is actually really comfy. Not in a snuggly cotton kind of way, but in a solidly-supported, my-back-says-thank-you kinda way. I'd like to try the Ipex wireless bra, but alas, they were sold out of my size. Walking into a store was a definite reminder of why I usually order from the site.

-- I also got a tank top for Pride, from all places, Hot Topic. I stopped in for new fishnets (sadly, they had no beige ones), and was surprised at the range of gay-friendly merchandise they had. I mean, go them. The guy at the register even wished me a happy Pride. So I bought a tank top to match my new camouflage miniskirt, and a Pride necklace. I think I'm set for the weekend.

-- I really like shopping alone. I mean, having friends along to okay dresses is nice, and appreciated, but I do like the experience of browsing at my own pace.

-- I tinted my hair slightly more red. It looks natural, which is nice, but it isn't exactly what I was going for. I think I'm going to have to order Feria's Flaming Red Power Red color to get the shade I want. I've had great results with it before, but I haven't seen the shade in quite some time. My hair's lightening up bit by bit, but no red tint has actually come out a true red on my hair since I did brown. The plan is to let this settle, to let the sun lighten my hair a bit, to deep condition and get a trim, and in about three weeks, go true red.

-- Can I tell you what a blessing it is to have a quiet, patient-free office this week? I got so much done yesterday since I wasn't asked to fix this computer, or hold this line, or find that chart, or do any number of things that are not actually my job (or rather, jobs-- considering I'm doing way more than I was hired to do.) I got six grand billed out to Blue Cross yesterday, which is pretty good, considering with Medicare, Blue Cross, Aetna, and a few other insurances combined, we generally only pull in twelve grand a week. I've got accounts payable to catch up on today, then I'm going to start work on Medicare stuff, since we no longer have a Medicare biller, and we're backed up like whoa. I think it's quite telling that I'm actually happy to be here today-- I don't have my boss sqwawking and making a fuss about things that are not my fault. I don't feel like I have to duck and cover. It's a relief.

-- It is very pretty today. Around lunchtime, I'm going to take a break. Some of you have poked me to review my latest Sephora order, so I should do that, and I also wanted to write up a review for War for the Oaks. I've since started Primavera by Francesca Lia Block, and I'm about halfway through. It's okay, but not riveting.

-- And ooh! Thanks to seshen's update on her SNN journal-- The Senate has blocked a Constitutional same-sex marriage ban! One step in the right direction.
"And Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, a Nevada Democrat, said that 'the reason the Senate Republicans are pushing this marriage amendment is because they don't want to address the real issues of this country.'"

Damn skippy, Mr. Reid.
