I don't even have the energy to scream.
From this point on, I will not be checking my email or any internet-related thing during work hours.
Why?
Because, as I was fixing orders on Theresa's desk this afternoon while she was out for physical therapy, I knocked over a little packet of paper. When I picked it up, I saw that there were print-outs of my personal emails there.
Pissed off, I called my other boss, David. He said that they were concerned about some downloading/server compromising. Meanwhile, I've never so much as downloaded an attachment on any work computer. Someone is apparently downloading Itunes. I don't have an MP3 player, and furthermore, I don't have Itunes installed on my computer. It goes without saying that it wasn't me.
Regardless, they printed out my email, which was intensely personal, and some of it having to do with Skyler, who they see as a nephew of sorts. And, as a fun side-note, surprise! I'm now out of the closet at work, and it was not my choice to be so.
This is ridiculous. I know that employers can legally check emails. However, I was told that emails were perfectly fine, and as long as I didn't download onto company computers or visit sites that would compromise security (spyware, malicious cookies, etc.), it was okay. If it was so okay, why the hell did they print out my goddamn email?
I swear, this takes me back to my parents reading my diary. It takes me back to Mike breaking into my livejournal. It's just so fucked up.
I'm going to check out temp agencies, then give my two weeks' notice. At this point, they can be in a motherfucking bind. Soon enough, Pikesville will be a distant memory.
