sihaya09 Scent: Ava Luxe's Golden Amber

No 'amber is the color of your energy' jokes, please.

Today, gentle readers, Christina will use her lunch break to talk about pretty smelly things.

It started when I received my end of a swap from maewitch. The swap was for a sample tube of FeMaledictions' Hell's Kitchen oil, which was a Halloween LE. And, one that I spilled all over my jeans last week, thus leaving me with no more lovely spicy applesauce goodness.

She tossed in a few freebies, one of which was a sample of Golden Amber from Ava Luxe. One sniff, and it was pure eyes-closed, droolworthy love. It's a sweet, exotically resinous oil, thick as an anointing oil. In fact, I'm wearing it today, and I absolutely cannot stop pressing my nose to my wrist.

I am such an amber-holic. Rare is the amber scent that does not agree with my skin-- the only one that comes to mind is BPAL's Brisingamen. In fact, one of my favorite amber scents is BPAL's The Lion, aged a few months. BPAL's amber note tends to be overly sweet at first, but tuck that bottle away for a few months, and the result is a blend that stops people in their tracks when I wear it.

So, I think it's worth ordering a few more Ava Luxe samples. They look to have a good range of amber scents-- Ambra Essence, Ambra Tibet, Bois Exotique, Dark Amber, Golden Amber, Incense, Tibet, Vintage Amber... an amber lover's (probable) heaven. Oh, and there's a Stargazer scent. I feel compelled to try all Stargazer perfumes ever in hopes of finding one that does not smell like soap and dying flowers on me.

In related news, I think I'm going to make myself a separate box for all of my Autumn/Halloween/Samhain-related scents. I have Samhain, Mabon, Harvest Moon 2004, Harvest Moon 2005, and probably about a half-dozen others from BPAL, I have a whole bunch of Autumn-themed perfumes from Femaledictions (imho, sCara produces the most evocative Fall blends, some of which I need to re-order), and I'm giving serious thought to getting Arcana's Sleepy Hollow blend. Can you tell that I'm a little obsessed with the season?

And, for you non-perfume obsessed people, get an eyeful of Vosges's limited-run Les Fleurs du Chocolat truffles. And I've still been meaning to get the Cocoa Bianca.

Oh, to be rich.
