The tempest in my teapot.

I've gotten around to trying just about all of the flowering teas in my Numi Tea sampler. I have to say that overall, I am quite impressed. I'd prepared myself for pretty, but not quite flavorful. I'm happy to say that I had assumed wrongly.

The standout has thus far been Dragon Lily, which blossoms to reveal a perfectly-formed orange lily bud. The white tea is delicate and almost dainty, but sweet with the headiness of apricot nectar. Black Beauty is a black tea with a subtle, smooth rose note that is soft and yet somehow still decadent. Midnight Peony seemed to have a delicate lavender note, and Starlight Rose is so subtle and beautiful that it ought to be served in your finest china.

Flower Jewel is a pretty good jasmine tea. I'm actually very particular about my jasmine tea, as it is my favorite kind of tea. None of that weak new age crap for me-- my favorite brand came straight from Chinatown. I like it strong and heavily perfumed, hearty enough to withstand a spoonful of sugar and a drizzle of milk. I'll steep it for a half hour if I have to. Flower Jewel balanced taste and delicacy quite nicely, and the amaranth flower adds a beautiful touch. (Although, now that I look closely, there doesn't seem to be a tempest lurking in my teapot, but I do spy what appears to be Cthulhu!)

Emerald Sun is the tea in the first picture. I'm sipping it right now, and even though I tend to dislike green teas, this one is actually quite nice. It tastes like a green-black fusion, the taste lingering longer than most greens tend to linger. There is an almost gourmand note present, like the finish of a good, rich coffee. Overall, I'm pretty pleased.

So, Dragon Lily and Black Beauty are definite reorders, Flower Jewel quite possibly as well.

And, before I'm off to work on my 100-word assignments (which might take longer than one night now that I've nattered on), I have new hair to show off.

Also of note: my insane love for Robin's Egg candies, and the fact that I seem to have no pupils in that first shot. Creepy.
