I need new icons. I'm feeling nostalgic about heroic, old-school Buffy. Before the whole lengthy preaching and needing to rely on a male partner thing, Buffy was cool. (Shh. I'm blissfully developing selective memory of season 7.) I think I might make a few-- the only problem is that my internet connection at home is slower than dirt, so getting caps/images might be a problem. I would just scout the usual communities, but there's this scary new trend that's making me shudder-- I've seen lots of oversharpened eyes and skin smoothed to a 20pt gaussian blur that makes Buffy look like she's about to eat your soul. That trend needs to end, thanks.

I'm also in YA heaven at the moment. My vice lately has been getting books from eBay and Amazon used-- I've amassed a stack of books to go through, and there are yet more that I marked for myself on my Amazon wishlist that come highly recommended. I got six books of Cate Tiernan's Sweep series that I intend to review over on witchy_reads, and also a brand new copy of Holly Black's Valiant, which will be made into a movie next year.

I'm also still working through quite a few Pagan books-- so many pages, so little time. I suppose that there are worse vices to be had than loving books, but right now, my wallet is groaning. My next acquisitions will most likely be a few books on the customs/folklore behind Samhain/Halloween, and also At the Bottom of the Garden by Diane Purkiss, because I want a reference for fairy folklore.

Update on my search for the perfect Tarot deck: Tarot Art Nouveau is indeed beautiful, but somewhat lacking in symbology (at least from my learning perspective). Another deck I'm eyeing is the Archeon Tarot.

On the music front, the new disc by the Mediaeval Baebes, Mirabilis, is fantastic. The two tracks that really stand out is the haunting and ethereal "Liannan Sidhe" and a truly atmostpheric rendition of "Tam Lin." I should give it a few more spins if I'm going to do a more in-depth review, but so far, it has a thumbs up. eiluned is sending me Salva Nos & The Rose, and I hope to have Worldes Blysse at some point in the near future. The Baebes are truly wonderful-- it's a pity I don't live in the UK, because I'd give an arm to see them live at Witchfest.

Okay. Back to work.
