Settling in
My room is 99.5% unpacked and situated.
Tonight, I have to finish setting up my computer now that I've acquired a grounding plug power converter, and I have to set up the 10 gallon tank that I've acquired partitions for so that my betta boys don't eat each other. There will be no fishie kung-fu. I went to the tropical pet store today, and they had the absolutely most beauteous betta crowntails. I was so very tempted to buy another fish, but I resisted. Four is plenty, and with two-and-a-half gallons apiece, they won't be cramped. But boy, what pretty fish.
However, while I was there, I fell completely in love with a little snake. A ribbon snake, to be exact, and one that won't get very large (which means no feeding it mice). Also important, this snake is one that I can afford. I'm going to do some research on the care of ribbon snakes and see what we have left over in the way of amenities from the last time we had a turtle-- then it's safe to say that I will be acquiring a baby snake of my very own. This is me being bouncy and excited. I've wanted a snake for awhile now, but I couldn't have one due to school policy. Now all I've got to do is get a proper set-up and I'll have a new addition to my menagerie.
My new job began today. I started learning billing and the accounting side of the business, which means I should meet all of the drivers tomorrow when they come screeching in about the chargebacks to their accounts with my friendly little note attached. The plan is that I will be trained for just about every job in the plant over the span of six months so I can do practically anything-- keep the books, manage the docks, run the dispatch. The plan is to make myself indespensible because my new boss has connections like whoa. It's dull, easy work, and it will most likely become soul-sucking in a year or so, but hopefully, that's all it will take to get on my feet financially because the money is pretty good. And it doesn't hurt that I now get a 40% discount at the RoomStore, so I'll actually be able to afford furniture when I move out. It's just the schedule that's going to kick my ass-- Tuesday - Saurday, I'll be out the door at 5:30 am. Did I mention I'm not a morning person?
Oh, and I forgot to mention my favorite thing about the way I've set up my room. Not only do I have a little book nook for myself, I've set up a fully-functional coffee station. Coffee to-go in 5 minutes, and even chocolate pirouettes to stir with. Small creature comforts are the best.
Now to get some sort of internet connection worked out. I miss actually reading my friendslist and not just skimming it for lack of time. I miss you all! Also, I should have graduation pictures some time in the near future.
