I feel icky.

Okay, so since I was vague earlier:

Last evening, my throat started to ache-- it was hard to swallow, my glands began to swell. I was generally uncomfortable; echinecea tea and salt-water gargling didn't help much.

This morning, I woke up feeling like I'd swallowed razorblades. Everything was raw, and my throat was so swollen that my breathing was more difficult than it should have been. My sinuses were full of pressure and my ears were aching as well. Considering I don't mess with anything ear-related due to my infamous Labyrinthitis, I went to the campus infimary.

They confirmed it wasn't strep, but sent away a throat culture to make sure it's not bacterial. Dammit, I'd just paid off my health center charges, too. But they gave me a care package of numbing losenges, ibruprofen, a 14-caplet perscription of Guaifenesin and Pseudofedrine to help with swelling. So far it has-- I can breathe easier now, and swallowing doesn't hurt quite as much. My sinuses are draining slowly, and the pressure is easing up.

I spent most of my day on the couch, either watching tv or passed out cold. There's something about falling asleep on the couch when I'm sick that's infinitely preferrable to sleeping in my own bed. Tonight is my last night on duty as an RA, and luckily it's a Monday night-- I don't think I'll have to raise my voice much. I should eat, though. So far, I've only eaten some chicken broth and half a cup of cold chamomile tea. I've got the vitamin C droplets to suck on because taking pills is making me gag. I'm betting this has something to do with our air conditioning being switched on-- there must be something in the AC vents I'm allergic to, because the same thing happened to me last year.

God. I would kill for some sorbet right about now. I really want ice cream, but dairy is almost the worst thing I could put into my body right now, so I'm dreaming of lemon sorbet to soothe my throat. Maybe I'll walk to the corner store if I'm feeling better in the morning.
