Today was much better than yesterday. Yesterday was completely and utterly frustrating until Aster saved the day with some kick-ass gazpacho and we had an L Word marathon. This morning, my parents woke me up with paperwork at 9:30 am, but they also came bearing mail that had arrived.
First was a beautiful letter from counterword and a much-loved copy of W. Somerset Maugham's The Razor's Edge which will make for excellent porch reading. You're right. There is something so special about a worn paperback-- it shows a great deal of love, of care. My copy of Waking the Moon is falling apart from rereading it and tossing it into every travel bag. That I would be gifted with someone else's special book is very precious to me. He also sent a DVD copy of an awesome movie that I really liked, which I am excited about, and Skyler will be even more excited about. Thank you, Jeff.
The second package was from bellybalt. In it was this:
The pretty. Woah with the pretty. It is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. Thank you Don. Wow. It's... beyond belief.
This is in part to commemorate that today I wore not a speck of black. I didn't realize this until Rac pointed it out, and now I feel an amazing sense of accomplishment.
This is from last week. It's a henna tattoo I got during Spring Fling, and it's since faded. I really liked having a tattoo right in this place, even as temporary as it was. I plan to get more tattoos, but I'd always figured that one would be a block of text on my left shoulder. A circular design right between my shoulderblades could also be nice, though.
My last week of being at McDaniel has begun. It's senior week, and I have dinners with professors, dinner with my boss, a senior crab feast, baccalaureate (at which I am delivering a reading from "The Prophet"), and then, on Saturday, graduation. I have so many feelings. I'm done with the work, but I'm not done with the people or the place. Moving will be so strange. More on this later, when I'm feeling more introspective.
Today, I had coffee with Sati and we talked about Wild Honey, her new proto-grove. We caught up in general, and she gave me a rune reading which more or less said many things I'd already suspected, but for which I wanted validation. I've got to get to work on the graphics for Wild Honey's LJ home, which I've offered to set up and help her run. So that was calming and centering.
As for tomorrow, I have work, and then I am going to skip over to the library to check out Good Omens because I've heard so much great stuff about it. I figure it'll make good reading to pass my final week.
Ps-- matrixleap can expect a letter in the next week or so.
