Dear Aster,

Since I don't have your number or your address, I want to eulogize your fishie.

Zwei passed away this morning.

He'd been very sick for about a week, sluggish and not eating. I started to medicate him, but he wouldn't eat at all, even the medicated food. It was most likely internal parasites, though he didn't show any of the more painful symptoms, which is good. I medicated him before bed and he was pretty peaceful, hanging out near the top of his bowl. When I woke up, he was still. Mike and I gave him a nice sendoff, though.

I know it wasn't my fault, but I still feel awful. I was pretty worked up about it. So much so that when I was emptying his bowl, my hands were shaking and I dropped it. Cut myself and all, it was nasty. Sorry about that. I have extra bowls aplenty, and if you want a brand new mini-aquarium, well, I have an extra. That'll be good considering we can be sure that the bowl is fish-safe. Just let me go with you this time to pick out a fish. We'll make sure you get a strong, active one. And I'll get you some of the good food.

God, I'm sorry. I tried my best. Maybe he just missed you.
