If you are a Bushiite and you're reasonably sure I like you, you may want to avoid my journal for the next week. That is a simple disclaimer. You read at your own risk, because I'm certain to be blatantly offensive to you.
I have to run to class, but I did want to take the time to say three things::
1) Senator Mikulski won! Yay! Take that, Pipsqueak, you bloated fuck.
2) This country is making me nauseous. I understand that votes are still being tallied, and I'm still praying about it, believe me. But on the gay marriage/civil unions issue? America, you make me fucking sick. This is a civil rights issue. Don't tell me that "oh, we're just not ready for it yet..." blah blah. What, you say? America's not ready for "equality," even though it's a principle we're founded on?? You're just bleating out prejudices like good little sheep without having the balls to own up to it. If America only granted civil rights when every negative-IQ redneck were ready for it we would still be segregated. I am so tired of people not being able to separate their own personal religious conviction from "America's needs." Equality is a need. It's a motherfucking right.
3) The next person who tells me there's no reason to get upset is going to get whacked. By god, I swear it. It is that important to me. There's too much at stake-- reproductive rights, civil rights, not to mention the humongous filth-laden mess that is Iraq & the economy. Our country is important to me, and no, I will not just shut up about it.
ETA:: And Kerry's conceeding.
Dear America,
Bush led us into an erroneous war which has claimed the lives of thousands. He ignored intelligence that could have prevented 9/11. He botched his chance to capture Osama Bin Laden. He dragged our economy to record lows. He has lost more jobs than any other president since the turn of the 20th century. He's begun an assault on the civil-liberties of those who don't share his right-wing fanatacism. He demolished our standing in the international community. He did all this and more while not being able to put together a single complete sentence.
And you stupid bastards re-elected him. Welcome to fascism.
Monkeyboy is NOT my president. He is the leader chosen by a nation that is deeply deluded, who has lost sight of what our nation stands for. As far as I am concerned, he's the regent of the next four years until someone better comes along and all of the rednecks in the middle of the country die of pure stupidity, withering diseases, or have up-close and personal encounters with wood chippers.
PS-- ladies, where does the line start to turn our uteruses over to government control? Because you KNOW where the hell these four years are headed. Hey! Maybe he'll bring back the rule of thumb, too! And a church lady dress code!
Dear John Kerry,
You tried to save us from ourselves. I appreciate that, dearly. I believed you when you said "Hope is on the way." It it still is. The sad thing is, sometimes we get the government we deserve. Not the government that is best for us, the govenment that is committed to our supposed doctrine of equality and justice, but a government that reflects its peoples' bigotry, prejudices, and general stupidity. I thank you that you tried, and if you run again, you will have my vote.
Dear Maryland,
Thanks for doing the right thing. I'm reasonably sure that the only reason I haven't decided to move to Canada is because I live here.
Dear People Who Voted for Bush,
Go enlist in the military. I'm serious. Go. You can go fight for Bush's fake war and send all of the troops who want to come home back to the US. They don't deserve to die for fake reasons, but since you're all so gung-ho about it, do us all a favor and go in their place. That's really supporting the troops.
