EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

My cousin Jamie had her baby boy!!

This is "Baby Nugget" before birth.

EDIT:

Jacob Andrew Folderauer
5 lbs, 20 inches

The parents are having sort of an issue about the first name. Jamie says Jacob. Mark says Andrew. Neither is budging.

This baby is so special because Jamie was told that she probably would not be able to have children-- her uterus is heart-shaped and women like that generally have miscarriages by the 6th month. The doctors said that even though Jamie and Mark won't be married until October, try try anyway. The later they waited, the less likely motherhood would be. Jamie was sick through her first trimester-- she actually lost 14 lbs, and even through her 8th month had only gained 17 lbs. The baby was nicknamed 'Nugget' throughout the pregnancy. Nugget was supposed to be a cesarean in the 8th month, but at about month 7, he randomly flipped around into normal birth position.

Jamie went shopping this morning with my Aunt. She noticed a little leakage, and just to check things out, they stopped by the hospital. As it turns out, she was in labor and didn't even know it. Everyone was assembled at the hospital by 4pm, and the doctor said that Jamie was only dilated to 2cm-- she had at least 8 hours to go. Nugget popped out ten minutes later, without much warning and no epidural. Mark was lucky enough to be walking in the door at the time.

The women in my family have extremely fast births-- I was 45 minutes from water breakage to birth-- my father barely made it. My brother was born in an examining room, delivered by my stepfather after the nurse insisted that my mother wasn't even close. By the time my sister came around, my mom had doctors camped around her. From first contraction to birth, Jamie wasn't even in labor for 3 hours. My mom says that he's precious-- but completely weird looking. :P

Jamie's doing okay. She lost a lot of blood, but Mark's taking good care of her. She'll be released on Monday.
