The presentation went quite well despite the five hours' sleep and the one hour of prep. I managed to convince my class that forbidden love, the ocean, Jesus Christ, and death were all valid expressions of the unattainable masculine in the poetry of Emily Dickinson. Go team me.
Staff meeting was long and boring. Also? One of my co-workers is annoying the hell out of me. Kim's the type of person who will openly tell you that you're stupid if you disagree with her. She talks over you if she doesn't agree with you (irritating to the extreme). In addition, she is always at least 20 minutes late to any function, so we have to pause and fill her in on anything that she missed, which usually takes about ten minutes because all of the important things come first.
So, there's this leadership honor society on campus, the Trumpeters. I briefly thought of applying, but decided that since I'm a mostly behind-the-scenes type person, maybe next year. Kim applied and was denied. Ina, another staff member, was on the board of 12 that makes the decisions. Ina tried to explain nicely that all 12 votes have to be unanimous, and out of the 40+ that applied, only about fifteen were accepted-- it's nothing personal, she probably just wasn't visible enough for most people to know her. Kim kept putting her on the spot, grilling her about who voted no, what higher-up can she talk to, like Ina's input didn't even matter. Then she pulled the race card. I felt like shaking her-- Kim, honey. You didn't get denied because you're black. You got denied because you trash talk like a mofo, skip out on your campus jobs routinely, have a nasty attitude, and threaten your residents with kitchen knives. Stop pulling the race card, because you're only giving rednecks ammo, okay? Grr.
Okay. My boys need to bring back the vacuum. I think I'm going to go for a walk.
But first...
Angel or Spike?
Angel. Spike stopped being interesting at about the second episode of season 4.
Buffy or Willow?
Ooh, split. In terms of overall arc? Willow. She grew a lot. But I admire the fighter in Buffy, all that she was early on. I think many of the things I didn't like about Buffy in the later seasons were SMG's fault, because she played Buffy like a moper rather then the dynamic confliction she could have had.
Fred or Cordelia?
Cordelia, I miss you. I miss you lots.
Xander or Oz?
Heather, I'm sacreligious. Xander. My Zeppo. My buttmonkey. Oz is pretty cool, though.
Lilah or Lindsey?
Lilah. Hands down. I love my Jossian Antichrist, Wes-fucking, morally ambiguous evil lawyer bitch in designer heels. And Lindsey needs a haircut pronto.
Giles or Joyce?
Oh, I have a soft spot for Joyce. Mostly from This Year's Girl. But Giles makes me think pervy thoughts about older men. He's so subtle, so layered. Giles.
Wesley or Gunn?
If you don't know who I like more, you should crawl out from under your rock. Because Christina+Wes(+maybe Lilah or Faith)= OTP4EVA.
Anya or Tara?
Oh. Tara. I miss her. She anchored Willow, and it pissed me that she only got one major character arc, and it was kinda flat (well, besides the crazy brainsuck). But I love Anya, too. Her snark. Her inappropriateness. I am Anya.
Connor or Dawn?
Dawn. At least she got over the angst eventually. Connor can go mope in a corner somwhere.
Kate or Jenny?
Jenny. Yay for pagans. Kate was waaaay too preachy and self-righteous. I kept hearing Peanuts-style "wonk wonk wonnnk" wheneve her mouth opened.
Darla or Drusilla?
Darla + Angel is totally the ultimate Jossverse OTP. Bar none.

Who is the best couple?
Buffy w/Angel, Spike, Riley, Parker, or Scott?
Riley was so good for Buffy, she just couldn't see it. Insecure, yeah, but of the bunch, much less fucked up. Watching it for more than a season and a half would have been ultimately boring, though.
Angel w/Buffy, Fred, Cordelia, Eve, Darla or Drusilla?
See, Angel/Cordy could have worked. The writing was subtle and excellent the first half of season 3. I was sooooo buying it. Then the ballet ep hit and the writing from then on fell like lead anvils from the sky. I'm totally going with Angel/Darla. The original OTP.
Fred w/Wesley, Gunn, Angel, Spike, or Knox?
I'm with
enfaith. Alone. She needs to not define herself by the man she's with. Either that or she needs some hot and heavy lesbo action.
Xander w/Willow, Anya, Cordelia or Inca Mummy Girl?
Anya. They got each other, ultimately. It was the closest thing to a real-life relationship Joss ever showed, IMO.
Willow w/Xander, Oz, Tara or Kennedy?
Mmm. Tara or Oz, flip a coin. I can't decide.
