I have been doing ALL OF THE THINGS lately in prep for vending week / Update, Part 2.
Yesterday alone, I made 40 pairs of ornament earrings while my temporary shipping helper, Lyn, packed up all the orders from Update, Part 1. She did an excellent job, and I am extremely grateful for her help. I was up to stupid o' clock in the morning dyeing my hair, which is a multi-step process. First I need to lighten/process the 1" closest to my roots (aka, the skunk stripe). I don't use straight up bleach, but rather an ammonia-free box dye in a natural blonde color. For one, it's a couple of shades lighter than my natural color, and for two, vegetable dyes like SFX and Manic Panic stick much better to processed hair. After I wash, then blow dry, I applied SFX Pimpin' Purple to the underside of my hair, and a mix of SFX Virgin Rose and Manic Panic Hot Hot Pink to the topside. I stained EVERYTHING IN MY IMMEDIATE VICINITY (including my ears, back, and right tit) purple.
Anywho, the result is pretty. A kaleidoscope of magentas, fuchsias, and dark purples. The purple is much darker than I was expecting, but it looks very pretty in natural/sunlight.
This morning, I shipped out 95% of those orders, stopped at the bank for change for tomorrow's vending, stopped at Staples to buy a proper cash-box, stopped at Terra Firma to pick up several new white jewelry displays, stopped at the wine shop for a bottle of spiced holiday wine for the refreshments table, and stopped at Walgreen's for holiday-themed Hershey's kisses for my table. I also stopped at Dunkin' Donuts for a coffee after remembering that all of the restaurants in Pikesville are closed on Saturdays, and thus I was denied a tasty egg bagel.
(I also wore my Smooth Criminal-style hat, because my scalp and neck are still Barney The Magically Annoying Dinosaur purple.)
Today is pricing stuff for tomorrow, finishing up a couple of more Elven Tears pendants for vending, then putting them on chains and patina-ing them, figuring out how Square works, and, if I get to it (which I really don't think I will) doing a custom rush order that I'm somehow going to have to make and ship by 5pm on Monday. Because I'm apparently magical and have problems with saying no to people who are panicking.
Tuesday & Wednesday are making more things for the show at Marriott International HQ in Bethesda on Thursday, which I think is a closed event, but I'm not 100% on that.
Friday is Terra Firma, Saturday is doing holiday stuff with Jason & his family (Amish Market, Valley View Farms, family dinner). Sunday is seeing Lincoln with one of my brothers. The Monday after that? I SLEEP. And then I furiously work to get Update 2 up as far ahead of the 14th as I can. After the 14th? Aside from packing orders, I am DONE until the New Year. Or until I become too bored and want to work again. As I do.
Okay, so that about sums it up. Gotta go do ALL THE THINGS now.
