So, despite ridiculous nerves (Frank Farinaro was in the audience AND they sold out!), Verve's Tribal Cafe debut last night went off really well! I actually got to peek at video to confirm this, as when I'm actually performing, things are just a big ol' blur. Which may be a blessing. When I was a singer, you were flat front to the audience, and once the shakes got into you, they were hard to get out because you really had nowhere else to focus. With tribal improv, my attention is always on my dance partner(s), so the nerves evaporate once I'm actually dancing.

Anywho, our set was a sultry Nina Simone rendition of "I Put A Spell On You," Squirrel Nut Zippers' "Hell," and then an encore of our Inappropriate Hafla Old West Pastiche, as requested by Belladonna.

The crowd seemed to like it, and I thankfully got to get out of most of my costume earlier in the night. Foot-wise, I'm a bit tender today, but still no stitches burst. We had to forgo a few moves that required putting full weight on my right foot that would have looked really great in the space, but otherwise I'm pretty satisfied. There will be pics and video when they are available.

Also, Troupe Hip'Nosis out of Philly did an AWESOME Halloween-themed piece as THE BORG. The costuming was on-point. They even used black-light reflective paint to do tattoos. Awesome.

This week, I also found out that I'll be doing a solo at the Creative Alliance's bellydance show (put on by Lilam) in February. I am brainstorming. It'll probably be more fusion-y than the work I do with Verve, and I'm excited to work with music that I love but just doesn't jive with ATS. There will also likely be swordwork.

I slept in 'til 10 this morning. It was glooooorious. I have some commission work to do today, and then we are carving pumpkins. Whee!
