-- Harvest Dinner thrown by 17flyingfish was lovely. First and foremost, she did a faithful rendition of The Helmand's baked pumpkin recipe (Kaddo Borowni- pan fried and baked baby pumpkin seasoned with sugar and served on a yogurt garlic sauce), of which I had a whoooooole lot. Yum. There was asparagus, pasta, salad with yummy pears, lamb chops, some sort of vegetarian tart, and... I'm forgetting something. Desert was equally spectacular-- the apple tart was delish! And. I baked. I know, I know, don't faint. But my apple bread turned out pretty good.

-- Kitties are being attention-grabby today. Nox has been more aggressively playful than usual, and he forgets that he is twice the size of either of his sisters. He has had a stern talking to. Olive's eyes are almost completely back to normal. They're a little red and puffy right when she wakes up, but overall, she looks great. Unfortunately, Mim seems to have a mild case of conjunctivitis happenin' now, and Terramycin seems to be working. But she's been whiny and under the weather for a few days.

-- I scored some peppermint mocha coffeemate. Yum. Also fleur de sel caramels.

-- Recs for a good facial moisturizer for oily skin? Something that won't break the budget, preferably handmade?

-- The second and third Matrix movies really suck in comparison to the original. In my mind, the first movie is the only one to exist. Well, that and The Animatrix. That was pretty good. Also, I still want most of Trinity's wardrobe.

-- Today's BPAL is Hamadryad. I scored an '06 bottle, hoping it would be my beloved cinnamon bark + dried woods. I got rootbeer and Ben Gay. Jason says he smelled a faint whiff of baby poo. Sigh. Happily, after a torturous 20 mins, it calmed down and is mostly soft woods and spices. I think that the relatively new Pais de Canela is going to have to take its place. Pais de Canela is a great Autumn/Winter scent-- cinnamon bark and a big of lush greens, like fir or pine. I need a bottle.

-- Target is gettin' all sorts of fancypants with their candles. First Yankee did a small line for them (hint, they're EXACTLY the same as some Yankee mainstays, only cheaper. "Home Again" is Harvest, etc.), and now they have some fancy line (Amber Vanilla is neither sweet nor synthetic, and Pomegranate Cassis is lovely) plus a woodwick line. Once Jason smelled the Bonfire Nights one, it came home with us. I'm still on the lookout for a good spices and pine scent for the Holidays. Something authentic and delicious.

-- After looking through lots of Christmas stuff, I think J & I will be buying our first tree in a few weeks! Synthetic, but pretty. No real trees for us until the cats are a little older. But I'm excited!

At my place in Pikesville this Wednesday at 6:15pm. I will supply tea and sodas and maybe more apple bread. You can bring yourself and a shareable munchie. My apartment is directly adjacent to the Baltimore metro system if you want to use public transit.
