Most of you probably know that Dragon's Blood-- a component in perfumery, incense, and many magic spells-- is really a code name for a bright red resin that usually comes from the tear-shaped fruit of the Daemonorops draco plant. Up until very recently, I could not stand the smell of dragon's blood. It was too sweet, too cloying. I blame Brooke of Villainess for putting out her Trauma smooch and changing my mind. Peach + dragon's blood. I ordered some after I heard everybody on the BPAL forums talking about its ambery drydown. Sure enough, it was HEAVEN and I'd sniff myself for hours afterwards.

So, I resolved to give dragon's blood a second chance. I don't know what's changed, but suddenly, I just can't get enough of it. I now have the resin incense, a candle (okay, that's more for a PURPOSE later this week, but still), and I've dug out all my BPAL scents that have it in there. Not a lot, since I purposefully avoided those scents, but I have Dragon's Blood, Dragon's Milk, Tintagel, and Tannin'iver. I am wearing Dragon's Milk today and I CANNOT STOP SNIFFING MYSELF, I SMELL SO GOOD.

As a side note, NewWitch magazine is merging with PanGaia. The result is the new Witches and Pagans magazines, and I'm a little iffy about it. I mean, pro: the inaugural issue has s00j on the cover. On the con: I was never that impressed with NewWitch, which really seemed to target the type of Pagan who needs to have all the coolest new toys. On the other hand, PanGaia had a great rep, so if they bring that mag's groundedness to the new media coverage of NewWitch, it could be cool. Maybe I'll buy the first issue to test it out.

Olive went to the vet today.

The good: FIV/Feline Leukemia is still a negative. She now has all her required shots. Vet says she's in perfect health and gave us the all-clear to adopt a little boy.

The bad: She had a totally barfy reaction to the vaccination, puking no less than eight times in a half hour. In her carrier, on herself, on the floor, and on her momma (in my HAIR). Worried, we called the vet, who told us to bring her in for a Benadryl shot, because this is one of the known side effects of a vaccine reaction. She got her Benadryl shot and immediately stopped barfing. She is now sleepy and stoned. We're keeping a close eye on her tonight, but things should be fine.

In other news, Pikesville post office sucks BUTT. I showed up at 4:58 and they locked the door in my face. ASSHATS.
