As I was making breakfast, I heard a conservative radio bobblehead (local) go on and on and on about how Gitmo detainees don't deserve trials. As I was yelling at him "BUT THAT'S WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT: THAT WE GIVE TRIALS!" while emphatically stabbing the air with a butter knife, I realized that my brain has probably reached critical mass for srs bizness today.

There are lots of great convos still going on about srs bizness. I will pick them up tomorrow. But until then? I'm making things. And cross-referencing herbal folklore. And watching True Blood. And playing with my cats. Here, have a cat:

See that paw? See how it's all "DO NOT DISTURB MY CUTE BUBBLE?" That is me until tomorrow morning, at which point, it's back to srs bizness as usual. Well, okay, I'll probably keep reading about Iran. But other than that? FLUFFY shall rule the day!

Though I have been steadily working. Overall, I've dropped a CHUNK of money on supplies for these new herb and oil necklaces-- ordered bottles, about 20 herbs, about 8 oils plus a carrier oil... essential oils are 'spensive, man. BUT, I will be making at least 8 prototypes (and one commission) once I am back from NC. Have spent my day scribbling notes about herbs into my workbook-- I'm gunning for ones that will be safe for topical use on skin or for anointing candles or somesuch, and avoiding herbs that are poisonous if ingested ('cause with kids, you never know) or are potentially harmful to pregnant women. I am open to using herbs that are poisonous upon request-- herbs like High John The Conqueror that are poisonous when ingested, but often used for anointing oils. But those sorts of things will not be in any of the "ready to buy" collection. Because you just never know.

I am glad that I'll be by the ocean the week before starting these pieces and that the new apartment is within walking distance to my favorite nearby nature spot. I cleanse for a bit, I will be able to mix and attune them while sitting on grass with my feet in a running creek. I also get to make my own rosewater. Sounds really nice.

I just got the world's most intense chocolate craving. I want one of those chocolate sea salt bars, but there are no World Markets around here. I will deal with a 70% cacao bar or something, but alas, the pantry is empty of sweets-- part of my whole "eating better" thing. WAH.

And, in other news, I have finally gotten Olive and Squeaky to start playing soccer with their actual TOYS and not the dried turds they dig out of the litterbox (ew!). VICTORY.
