Thank god. Friday. Yes. This is a good thing. I plan on getting some actual sleep tonight, as I have not gone to be before 2am for the last few days, and 5 hours of sleep does not a happy Christina make.
On the plus, I have fun things to show for it. The first of which being my firs luxury gem offering-- a necklace featuring lemon quartz, citrine, amethyst (in both lilac and dark purple shades), ametrine, and stardust rounds, and teeeeny orange and pink tundra sapphires. I tried a new technique, and it looks neat, but I'm sure I'll improve as I go on. Thinking on pricing... the materials alone were almost $70, and I spent almost 4 hours meticulously hand-wiring 2-3mm rondelles with 28g sterling wire. To offset the "omg, brain hurts, need instant gratification" effect of such involved pieces, I'm also going to be doing a delicate little run of super-simple earrings. Made pretty ones last night with carnelian and peridot.
I'm addicted to iTunes rentals. Last night I watched 'The Jane Austen Book Club'-- predictable-ish, but a fun ensemble cast. Marc Blucas! So cute, so charming. I kind of just want to hug him. Hugh Dancy, who, I dislike solely on the principle that he's dating Claire Danes, is nonetheless cutely bumbling if not over-eager. There's a decent lesbian subplot, lots of Austen fangirling, lots of female bonding, and really only one subplot that made me want to yell at the screen (do NOT take your cheating husband back. Just don't). I also saw 'No Reservations,' which was patently formulaic, but did point out three things: that Catherine Zeta-Jones is aging gracefully, that Aaron Eckhart looks cute even with Bon Jovi hair, and that Abigail Breslin is a better actress than half of Hollywood, and she hasn't even hit puberty yet.
Sooooo, weekend. Tonight, perhaps a movie. Jason and I were talking about Palace of Wonders, but I am very, very tired and so is he, so we might just hang out instead. Tomorrow, I'll be working from Jason's place, and Sunday we're hanging out with his friends-- well, I guess technically our friends now-- before heading into Tribal Cafe and greeting even more friends.
