Newest weird house thing: random smoke scents.

It's 12:30, I'm sitting on the couch waiting for Dixie to get home 'cause quite frankly, this house is starting to creep me a bit when I'm alone. I get the strongest whiff of something burning-- singed hair to be exact. I get up, panicky, to check the kitchen. Nope. Checked the basement. Nope. The acridity is starting to sting my throat. Check upstairs. The hallway to my room is really strongly smoky-scented, but no smoke. I sniff all around the rooms, around vents, I check wiring. Nada. No sparks, no cloudy air, no electrical sizzle noises. I haven't cooked recently, or burned candles or incense. I sniff outside. Clear, fresh, rain-soaked air.

And now the singed scent is now centering two steps from the top of the stairs. Away from all sorts of vents or wiring.

It dissipated right before 1am, as Dixie was coming home. She smelled it faintly, but mostly looked at me like I was nuts. Seriously, it was not an olfactory hallucination.

Yeah. Glad she's home. I'm ready for this crap to chill for awhile.
