Had a good weekend. Created what is probably my favorite piece that I've done so far-- antiqued silver, sterling silver, and turquoise. It's a pretty bird soaring. Looks absolutely gorgeous on the neckform. Am very, very tempted to keep it for myself, except the components are readily available and thus I can replicate it. Strangely, I'm having the most trouble with finding the right components for the 'Anguisette' earcuff remakes. Apparently the only place in the world that sells those little dagger drops is the notoriously unreliable Joann's near my work, and Swarovski has apparently stopped selling the 13mm red drops, 'cause my usual supplier dropped 'em and I can't find them anywhere else. I've been looking for a suitable replacement. The 11mm briolette drops are just too small. The cubic zirconia drops I ordered turned out to be far more orange than red. The chinese cut crystal teardrops I tried were not crystalline enough for my tastes and looked too much like plain glass. Not acceptable. This is seriously starting to bug me. I know I'm being super-picky, but I want it to be right. I did find one seller on Etsy with the correct teardrop in stock, but she only has one pair listed... I convoed her about getting more, and I guess we'll see. If all else fails, Rings-N-Things has 15mms in stock. It'll just be a little pimped out. It's just that I don't like that R&S not only has a $25 minimum, but they charge you $4 additionally if your order is under $50. That doesn't sit well with me.
Aside from that, I went to a cool little wine tasting shindig hosted by Scott and Sarah, wherein I got to hang with friends and imbibe tasty wassail. Went to bellydance class, and my butt is sore from Suhaila exercises. Hung out in Fells Point with Brooke and La; window-shopped and got coffee. Heather and I got caught up over strawberry rhubarb pie and copious amounts of Supernatural, and that was pretty cool. Tonight is hanging with Annabean. In fact, I looked at my calendar, and I'm booked solid for the next two weeks.
Aaaaanywho, BPAL did their massive Lupercalia update, and it looks after I start making some dough back, I'm going to want these:
( Cut for lots 'o text and amorous language.Collapse )
And! There was a tragedy Friday afternoon at work. I dropped my favorite mug, and it cracked. It was the mug I got from
eiluned-- gorgeous, hand-thrown, heavy and oversized. I need to get a replacement soon. One lady on Etsy has a gorgeous Mediterranean blue glaze that I've been eyeing. Time to go mug shopping.
