Tea yesterday at Colleen's was lovely, despite Brandie and I managing to get stuck in traffic on 495 on the way back at midnight, which meant I got home just a hair before 2am and we spent a total of 2 hours parked on that damned stretch of highway over the course of the day. We developed a theory that no one's really died in the Bermuda triangle; they'll just reappear in about two hundred years ravenously starving and muttering about how the traffic was just horrible.
At any rate, we got there in one piece and were promptly served an array of tea sandwiches, scones, butter choices, jam choices, and I tried four different teas in Colleen's dainty little footed teacups. Of the teas, the white tea peony was my favorite for afternoon, and Sylfaen Blends' tummy tea (mint and lavender) was my choice for the evening. After the tea, we retired to the great room for some bellydance dvd-watching before Jim arrived home and we all sat down to a late dinner. And brownies-- mmm, those brownies were delicious. Colleen and Jim are lovely hosts, Greg a wonderful server, and Brandie, as always, spirited company.
It was decided at some point that I should try on many of Colleen's corsets, and so I did, donning many sumptuous leather bits, and I even brought home one wickedly evil-looking leather-and-buckles waist cincher corset that caused Skyler to grin mischievously when I showed it to him. This, of course, inflames my desire to get a corset of my very own, but my money has been directed elsewhere of late. Still, a few affordable options caught my eye (One, two, three) and I will keep them in mind when putting together costuming for the Bad Faeries' Ball. I'm thinking dark, elegant, long lines, touches of gypsy.
As for me, I'm due for a bath in rose-scented water, then I have a date with myself to do beadwork and watch Ladyhawke, which I have never seen. I'm jealous of all of you who saw Stardust this weekend, and have made Sky promise to take me to see it tomorrow night before he leaves for GenCon!
