Virgo:: The modern war between science and spirituality seems laughable in light of the life of Sir Isaac Newton. His discoveries in the realms of physics, mathematics, and astronomy were so seminal and so numerous that he's regarded as the most influential scientist in history. Many refer to him as the greatest genius who ever lived. And yet Newton's central passions were alchemy and the Bible, about which he wrote millions of words, far more than what he devoted to his scientific interests. "Gravity explains the motions of the planets," he wrote, "but it cannot explain who set the planets in motion. God governs all things and knows all that is or can be done." I suggest you make Newton your role model, Virgo. It's a favorable time to forge a new spirit of cooperation between the two parts of your psyche -- let's call them the rational and the transcendent -- which so many of today's thinkers have told you cannot possibly co-exist.
I think this is rather amusing considering we had a rather heated debate about just this on our last day in San Francisco. Sky, Tessy, and I were squarely in the "spirituality and science can co-exist" camp, while his aunt and uncle were firmly against it, stating that intelligent people cannot possibly be spiritual/religious. All in all, we oddly enough seemed to be taking the less militant standpoint (or at least, we weren't using the inflammatory language)-- so interesting that I should be reminded of that with today's horoscope.
And now I switch topics entirely. Dear Maryland Transit Administration: BOO to you. First of all, there's a two-mile stretch of road now completely impassable by the M-10 bus, which means I get to walk a mile from the stop to get home until late August. Whatever, at least it's warm. But this morning, I also found out that the Metro will also be out of commission from August 10 - 26th. Which means I'll essentially stay on at Dixie's until this madness is over and wake up early to take the shuttle or the M-9 because the MTA decided to fuck all my regular routes all at once. BOO.
