Today is an absolutely gorgeous rainy day. The kind of day you wish you could spend in your PJs watching Labyrinth while sipping hot tea. But alas, it is Tuesday, and I am back at work. I may yet have time for a nice soak in the tub later this evening while I dye my hair. Really, I should clean my room, as my carpet has developed random muddy-looking smears, but some days, you just gotta be lazy.

In honesty, though, it's time to move on to greener pastures, job-wise. I'm stagnating. There's only so many times I can write memos about Bill X still not being paid, and that's kind of a waste of my energy. Dixie told me that there's a new Starbucks opening on Reisterstown Road, and I think it's a little sad that my first instinct was, 'sure, it'll pay less, but at least it'll be fun!' I just hadn't wanted to switch jobs before moving again, but every week just seems to drag on a bit more futilely. Oy.

On a lighter note, Skyler and I were talking about Steve Irwin's death last night. Mind you, this is a man who has gone on record to say that he hopes his death was on tape, and that he would bear no ill-will towards the animal that caused it. I think he'd have a certain odd sense of humor about death-by-stingray. So, I'm now picturing Steve Irwin's exploits in the afterlife. Join our intrepid hero, Steve Irwin, his faithful companion, Bindi, and Lila the Dodo bird as they wrestle the extinct creatures of yesteryear! Witness a touching reunion between Steve and his dearly departed favorite crocodile, Mary! And just think-- Steve Irwin vs. The Great Kracken. Steve Irwin vs. The Wooley Mammoth. Steve Irwin vs. T. Rex! No mortal coil, no holds barred.

Heh. Witness humor as a coping mechanism.

As for me-- yay, more accounts payables to double check while I wait for my boss to call me back about setting up a meeting. He's only in for about 5 hours each workweek, which makes clear communication nigh impossible. Meh. At least there's coffee.

Aka-- if there's something I told you that I'd attend this month that is not on this list or you wanted to poke me about something, speak now, or forever hold your peace.

Saturday, Sept. 9th- Sunday, Sept. 10th:: Road trip to Longwood Botanical Gardens with tamnonlinear.
Monday, Sept. 11th:: 4pm driving lesson, 6:30 - 9:30 driving class.
Friday, Sept. 15th:: End of care-package swap.
Monday, Sept. 18th:: Happy Birthday to Meeeeeee!
Friday, Sept. 22nd:: Date estimation for driving test.
Friday, Sept. 29th:: Either seeing Neil Gaiman in DC or Friday Night Swing, depending on my schedule.
Saturday, Sept. 30th:: MDRF + The Mediaeval Baebes. This day will essentially be serving as my (belated) birthday party. Come one, come all, and a good time shall be had.
Friday, Oct. 6th:: Friday Night Swing big band night.

The other day I'm doing MDRF will either be the weekend of Sept. 23/24 (Pirate Weekend) or Oct. 7/8 (Celtic Weekend). Hmm... pirates or kilts? Kilts or pirates? The eternal question. sunflwgal, didn't you say something about camping? Help, my hed is pastede on yey.

And whoo-- eiluned is visiting from Texas during Baebes Weekend. She may or may not be crashing at my place, and we may or may not be sightseeing that Sunday.
