The quickie lunchtime post.
I'm determined to fall in with Faire Folk this year, so that I can attend more than once and get a sense of the social aspect of the faire phenomenon (wow, I almost typed faire fenomenon). The first set of garb I have is very nice and matchy-matchy. I want a second outfit that's a little less so. Something more gypsyish or piratey. One does tire of being a fair maiden, after all.
One option is an Irish Dress in burgundy from Sofi's Stitches. It's reversible, so it's like getting two dresses in one-- the underside is black. So, with a black or red chemise, a ring belt, and a captain's hat-- voila, pirate. Or with a light chemise and a colored skirt, voila, lassie. See? Versatile. Or GreyCat Designs has one cheaper-- I just want to compare the craftmanship a little better.
Part of me desperately wishes I could pull of the Khadija look, but I fear I may be a little top heavy.
...or I could just wear what I've got and piece my next outfit together at faire. More time to save up and all that. Too many choices.
