I am absolutely exhausted. I didn't fall asleep until almost 3:30am. My nerves had gotten to me. Needless to say, coffee is both a blessing and a curse this morning. I'm drinking it to stay awake, even if it does make the nerves situation a little worse. Sometimes pretending you're okay is the hardest thing you can do. At least my head is still above water.
Still, there are a few positives. For one, I'm not dead. For two, no one I love is dead. For three, I did manage to have a good time for part of the weekend, which included crashing a cast party and kayaking on the Potomac, both of which I enjoyed very much. For four, Anna made me wonderful pumpkin-bread French toast last night, with whipped cream and berries. For five, I have good friends who are willing to indulge my batshit insane requests just so I can rest easier. For six, one of my co-workers is the sweetest old lady I know.
I'm going to have a houseguest for the next few nights. Suffice it to say that Ariel's home situation makes mine look like the Cleaver household, and so I'm offering her a place to crash for the next few nights. I guess that means I'll be temporarily vegetarian. So tonight I'll be meeting her at the Metro and making pesto pasta while I whirlwind-clean my bedroom and do some laundry. It'll be kind of strange-- we haven't shared the same room since we dated. Still, she's gleefully looking at it as "running away from home" despite being older than me, and who knows? Maybe we'll braid each others' hair and talk about boys. Actually, I'll probably be passed out by midnight.
Oh, and one more positive. I deposited my federal tax return this morning. That means that tomorrow, I can order shiny new boots. Aster scored me a used pair which I've yet to try on, and those are 20-eyelet, which means I'm almost leaning towards the 14-eyelet pair. Still, a vote.
And finally, I think it's time for a new layout. I'm thinking a Buffy-themed layout, maybe one from 'Restless.' "I'm gonna be a fireman when the floods roll back" and all that. Finding the core. I'm going to proposition someone to make it, because I just haven't been feeling the photoshop lately. I haven't had time.
