This is most likely my next-to-last entry before I graduate. My computer will be sent home tomorrow afternoon with the bulk of my belongings, and you might expect me to drop off of the face of the earth for a little while.
I wanted to take the time to mention that I just did a fairly sizeable friends-list cut.
The reason for this is simple. I am moving home to relatively unreliable internet access and very limited internet access time, not to mention a near-medieval 56k modem. I know that I won't be able to keep up with my friends list, and so I had to cut about a third of you, plus every community except those few which I consider to be essentials.
None of this was personal, nor any reflection on my opinion of you as people or as writers. A lot of people that were trimmed are fandom friends, and we run in the same circles. I'll be reasonably able to keep up with you, and we'll remain in touch. Some others that were trimmed were those that I'd lost touch with-- with some, our interests simply diverged, and others rarely update. Some, I see regularly on other forums, and again, we'll remain in touch that way. McDaniel friends and acquaintances can find me on Facebook. If you have reason to want to stay on, email me.
I encourage all of you who want to keep me on their lists to do so. Please email me or point me to important posts if you want my input. I'm not saying that I don't want to be LJ friends, only that time will not allow me to read as much as I'd like. So if there's something I should see or know, or if you want words of support, please drop me a line.
You can expect a drop-off in my postings. I will most likely post no more than once or twice a week for the coming months, maybe a little more if I get an internet connection in my room and I don't have to fight my 15 year old sister for computer time (my mother promised to get another line installed as per our rental agreement, but that could be a few months off). I welcome hand-written letters and I like to do cards/correspondence, so if you want to communicate that way, please drop me a line, as well. If you were on my Christmas card list last year, don't assume you're off of it this year because I have so little time. Again, I still care, and I'll miss not hearing your words on a daily basis.
As for me, I have to pack. I have half of my room done already, and half to go. By 4pm tomorrow, my walls will be bare and there will be nothing left but my bedsheets, a change of clothes, and essential toiletries. Tomorrow is my last night at college. Wow.
I bought a new journal today. Spiral bound, black, unlined. I miss writing things out, and Anna and I have decided on a joint journal for the summer, just like the old days. You'll get the highlights here, I'm sure, and probably more creative writing. Expect less quantity, more quality. I feel that I'm bursting with creativity.
So here I go. There will probably be another post before I leave, wherein I reminisce about the last 4 years, but I have a decent amount of packing to do before I write it. Until then, there is packing. Massive, tiring amounts of packing.
To those who were trimmed, thank you so much for your comments and support-- you'll never know how much impact it had on keeping me afloat. Let me know if I can do the same for you-- this is not a goodbye kiss-off, and I will miss you. Please keep in touch, and I'll do my best to do the same. I hope that someday, hopefully sooner than later, I'll have time to reconnect with you in a meaningful way. Until then, all the best.
Love,
Christina
