Reasons why today was better than yesterday::

1. My remaining four fish were remarkably perky today.
2. I got an A on my midterm.
3. I got a B+ on a paper that I was a bit iffy on.
4. I finished my paper today just in the nick of time, to find that the teacher extended the date 'til Tuesday. Yay editing time!
5. I got paid. Not a lot, but enough to cover groceries and a health center charge. My next paycheck will have a nice little bonus since I worked a full extra day this week. I bought myself cheese quesadillas and a brownie to celebrate.
6. I got my absentee ballot. I will delight in neatly pencilling in the little bubble next to John Kerry's name.

It needs to stop raining so I can bury Scout before he's un-buryable. I've chosen the rock garden next to the library-- I'm going to put him under a tree so he can fertilize new life.

I don't want to go to Faulkner tomorrow. I'm still kind of fuming through my ears.
Off to an RA meeting. I'm so tired of these ridiculous hours because one person always arranges our schedules around his our schedules constantly conflict.

Ugh.

Samhain is in the air. It's been gray and damp all week, with a chill in the air. I'll admit that I've had so much distraction and drama in the last two months that I've had very little patience or time for spiritual pursuits. I have many books on my shelves that I have yet to read through, and many old favorites to re-read. And of course, I have to watch Sleepy Hollow-- it's one of my seasonal favorites. I wonder if I can find The Wicker Man anywhere nearby-- I've never seen it.

My school readings have been heavy this semester, very difficult to keep up with. I can't imagine trying to read a Faulkner book and a novel for Psyche's class every two weeks and still have time for leisure reading. I almost can't wait until Thanksgiving break-- turkey and hot tea and a cozy blanket. I like when the house is quiet and I can read by lamplight all night long. Of course, the feuding siblings can be a bit of a challenge in the morning.

I'm still trying to figure out my Samhain plans. I'm going to a Halloween-themed wedding on the 29th, and I'm performing the 30th. The 31st is in the clear, so I may go to Toni's if she has something small, or I may stay in with a book and do my own small ritual. I've got a Samhain meditation taking shape in my brain-- now I just need some peace and quiet to practice it-- peace is so hard to find on a college campus.

Mmm. I have some Pumpkin Spice tea I need to be getting at. :)
Oh, and today I hit an F# before Kyle stopped me. A new high!
