Meh. So-- my paycheck? About half what I thought it'd be.

My BPAL order? Also half what I thought it'd be, because I have to pair down.

Eh. There's always next month. It'll be a hobby, so I can wait. I can bide my time in the meantime making a cool box to house all of my samples.

I went to have my meeting with Dr. Mary regarding my Faulkner paper, and she told me that she thought my group presentation with Chava & Courtney went well. She then told me that it was actually really funny, because the three of us were the only ones who on our forms voted for no group presentations-- we're generally the ones who get stuck shouldering most of the weight. And so her first instinct was to put us all together in a group to "set the bar," as she put it. But then, she and her husband got into a theological debate because rigging it would be unfair.

So she cut up our names and put them in a hat. I was the first name her husband drew. Then Chava. At that point, she decided God was in favor of her plan, and we were made a group. :)

We also talked about next semester's senior sem. I want to do something along the lines of metaphysical elements in young adult/coming of age novels, since YA novels are my passion. I mentioned to her that I now have half a shelf of Buffy criticism, not to mention I read constant criticism from my friends' circles. She's actually a fan, and she said a textual reading of Buffy would make an excellent senior sem! Imagine that! She thinks it has more cultural relevance than, say... some Dickens text. And so I just might. It'd be fun, and I'd actually be into it. Not to mention I have some of the best Buffy critiquers already on my friendslist who would probably be willing to give it comb-throughs.

Okay, and so I'm going to start doing birthdays again. rebelpoetus, happy birthday!

And egosomnio, your birthday is coming up, yes? Well, seeing as how we get paid shortly thereafter and we're going to the MD Renfest on the 16th of October, are you in? We could celebrate (belatedly) then.
