I got to sleep in until 8:30. Paradise, people. Today, we havet the ethical discussion, and Behind Closed Doors I, which is a simulator for the newbie RAs with all the returners as actors. We actually do this twice. Round I is all very light stuff: parties, an alcohol violation, roommate disputes, etc. After the newbies have had time to process more info and learn from the first round, the returning RAs and Peer Mentors do BCDII. Situations generally include a larger party, drug violations, alcohol poisoning... I was suicide girl last year.

Being suicide girl was a tough act to follow, as a friend of mine had usually filled the role, and she's a theater chick who practically had us all in tears my first year. I surprised myself last year, and severely shook up a newbie or two on my own. They didn't do terribly well, though. If one more person told me that God loved me and didn't want me to die, I was going to start screaming. It's never ok for an RA to bring religion into a matter or assume a religion of a resident. And aside from the talking the resident down, there is strict protocol the RA must follow with regards to getting a counselor and on call ResLife coordinator on the spot immediately. This is a process that an RA has to have down cold, because if you don't, "Oh, she's just upset" can and will turn into a graveside scenario.

In good news, I bought myself the most gorgeous roses last night. I have to take pictures of them tonight. They're a rich cream color with delicate pinkish tips. I don't usually get roses, but these are exceptionally beautiful. I like flowers.

Also, it's Racheal's birthday. We still don't know what's up for celebrating. I can only afford one outing this weekend-- that means wither dinner tonight or going out this weekend. RA training means I can't work at the bookstore means no paycheck for three weeks. This really and honestly irks me when a member of our team gets to leave for football practice, but anyway. She had a shot at midnight, then sipped some mango rum & oj.

Shower time, food, busy day begins.

PS - since it is 8:45 am EST - YAY Paul Hamm! Best comeback ever!

Just got back from a steakhouse where Heather and I bestowed our gifts upon the birthday girl. As a sidenote, I had a pineapple margarita and it was awesomely good. Just one more month until I'm legal to drink-- I cannot wait. Cannot. Alcohol should be issued by IQ, I swear it. Rac's currently sipping a rootbeer & vanilla vodka blend that has a nice little kick to it. I wonder if we can get her to dance on the coffeetable naked.

RA training was a bunch of blah blah been there today, with the exception of Will & I performing 'Baby Got Back' in front of the Deans. I've never seen Barb Horneff looking more disturbed oh, ever. But yay for job security, yes?

And in BCDI, Krystal & I were the roommate dispute pair. We had four rotations, and every one got more and more dramatic. I was supposed to be the slobby roommate, and she was the one who always had a boyfriend over. We were so loud that we could be heard four floors down. Typical exchanges included, "You don't live in this room, you inhibit it!" (Krystal), and "I would wash the dishes if you weren't constantly fucking your boyfriend!" "I don't have a boyfriend!" "Oh, I'm sorry-- your manbitch!" Haha. It's fun riling up the newbies. And the ones who are so sure they know what they're doing and get cocky about it are always the ones who absolutely fail.

RCR update: 12 more PA ave houses, 12 more GA apartments. Then I can die.

Timeline update: 9 more days until RA training is over. Then I can die.

And oh! The prettiest roses ever::

Also, in the next pic, you can see my gift to Rac. Heather got her some awesome Shea perfume and a gorgeous little perfume bottle of opaque glass with a pewter, gem-studded moon design. I made her a love draw sachet with a Kabbalistic love talisman (Rac is Jewish), and herbs like damiana leaf and jasmine, and stones like rose quartz and carnelian. I also put in shiny pennies, a pink spell candle, some seashells, and some incense. I also filled it with petals from the aforementioned prettiest roses ever.

Okay. I have to dye my hair while I'm coherent. This fourteen hour workday is killing me.
