I can't focus on writing what I'm supposed to be writing. My hero and my heroine met for the first time, and the dialogue seems to be the easy part. The rest is the toughie-- I want to make the description interesting, and not filler. But then a song on my playlist completely distracted me.

I first heard Fisher's "I Will Love You" three nights after my eighteenth birthday. Listening to it put me back where I was at the start of my relationship with Mike, and all the terrible confusuion and heartache that entailed. A lot of you didn't know me then. Allow me to reminisce.

Mike and I met at AC Moore, an arts & crafts place. I was a cashier trying to make some money the year before college, and he was the custom framing guy. The first time I saw him, my heart jumped so hard in my chest that I felt a very palpable pang of pain. That was my first night at work in February of 2001. I had run out of register tape at station four, and he'd squeezed into the tiny booth to fix it. I remember wanting to lean into his shoulder, wanting to breathe him in, maybe even kiss the back of his neck. Then I realized he was a perfect stranger. Also, I had a very long line of plump housewives to take care of.

A while back, the Res Life office betta fish died. Today, Bobbie was getting rid of the vase/plant, and I took it off her hands. Tomorrow, I have to deposit a check at the bank, and on the way, I'm going to pic up a betta. But what shall I call him? I'm leaning towards Orlando because bettas are pretty and stupid. Heather already has dibs on Gefilte, the coolest fish name. So....

Poll #315357 What should I name my betta fishy?

What should I name my betta fishy?

I once had three goldfish. I named them breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

PS-- LJ is not sending me comments. So don't think I'm ignoring you. I just haven't gotten everything yet.

I joined up at Witches Weekly.

Do you wear any religious symbol jewelry/clothing? If so do you wear it openly in public? I generally wear my pentacle in public. It's small and simple, shiny silver, so it's not like I'm wearing an in-your-face pentacle hubcap around my neck. I used to wear a tiny goddess pendant that Anna gave me, and I still do when I'm around my dad's family because we're easing into the whole Wicca thing. Half of them are Baptist, the other half Catholic, so we're still working on the whole "a pentacle is not a symbol of Satan" thing.

How do you feel about the issue of wearing religious symbols in schools and how some young teens are forced to remove their religious fashions? The way I see it is this: a student should be able to wear whatever religious garment/symbol they choose, within reason. Crosses, stars of David, pentacles... you name it, that's fine. However, religious T-shirts/clothing should not feature profanity or graphic images. Schools should neither advocate any particular religion, nor should they hamper the individual's rights to express themselves individually. If it's not a hazard to physical safety, it should not be an issue.

Have you ever experienced a confrontation about wearing your jewlery in public? How did you handle the situation if so? No negative confrontations, really. People generally mistake my pentacle for a Star of David. Those in the know will pick it up, but that's about it.

Oh, and I also updated my userinfo with tons of choice linkage. Whaddya think?

Back to writing.
