About a week ago, disillusioned about the meager hours that the bookstore offered, I did a bit of kitchen-witchery to whip up the best prosperity pancakes I've ever made. Within the last week, I've picked up three extra money opportunities: book-on-tape, 10 extra hours in the office, and I begin the summer RA position tomorrow. I'm going to give thanks for an answered prayer tomorrow.

Timmy came by tonight and he brought ribs and steak he'd made himself for dinner... not to mention an entire bottle of orange Grey Goose Vodka. We had good, rambly Deep Thoughts conversations, the kinds I rarely have anymore. Tim is one of the rare people that I can disagree with on a regular basis that understands that even though I disagree with his perspective quite often, I still respect him and his ability to form an informed opinion. Too often when I'm in a debate, the other person gets angry because they don't get that I see that there are many sides to any given issue, but when I have a heartfelt opinion, I will hold onto it to the death.

Most often I am a moderate, but I have the habit of asking many questions, which irks some people to death. I have very little tolerance for hipocracy and I often point out ideocyncrasies in arguments. Likewise, I appreciate someone who can shoot right back without getting pissed off or expecting compliance. Timmy is one of those people, and having him by is always a treat (when we're not talking about his love life, which is straight outta Dawson's Creek).

So we had good food and good conversation, and I like mudslides.

I have to go to bed soon, as I have an orientation in the AM. It's been a good day, and I'm grateful for all that I have.

I actually got good news from the bursar's office today.

In addition to the $50 a week stipend that I get from the summer RA job, $600 was deposited into my student account.

Which means after the $100 negative balance on my account is paid off, I get a $500 check. That's grocery money, people. That's me not having to worry about eating through the summer.
That's me actually being able to enjoy the $100-$150 I will get during the week, and *gasp* maybe putting some away for fall books.

And.

(yes, it gets better)

Since the hold on my account was removed, I got my grades.

Seven A's. Seven. Dean's List again, baby.

My cumulative GPA is 3.776. I am less than .03 GPA points away from Summa Cum Laude. It's doable. It's really fucking doable.

I'm on cloud 9. Those 73 RCRs I have to do by Friday will go by like a breeze.

Someone on my flist pimped Vienna Teng's "Gravity (Lake Version)," and I'm absolutely in love with it. I'm thinking of buying Warm Strangers, but I'm kinda wary about buying a CD for one song.

Anybody have anymore Vienna Teng tracks to help me make up my mind?

Dear self:

Stop checking your email every ten minutes, disconnect the internet, and write. Three pages is not a night's work!!

Thanks,
