So. Second time shooting. I did better, and I did worse. So far, my cumulative average is a 33 per end (6 arrows).

Of the 36 arrows shot (30 scored, 6 practice), I hit 35 and missed 1 (a practice arrow) from 15 feet, three less than I missed last time.

My overall score was 167, 5 points up from last time. The downside is that in 30 arrows, I only hit bullseye 4 times. My arrows seem to cluster in the red sector about a hair to the upper left of the bullseye. Dammit.

In my defense, we had a broke-ass bow this time-- the arrow rest was snapped off, and there were no 20-lb bows left. So. Grrgh.

But on the upside, I won my group again, this time by almost double the points. I want to shoot against some of the really good guys in the class-- competition always brings out my strengths.

And I didn't hurt myself this time-- I have a quarter-sized bruise right above my inner elbow where the bowstring snapped beneath my armguard last time. This poor girl in my group holds the bow too close and as a result, her entire upper arm is purplish-black. I gasped aloud when I saw it. She looks like she got whacked with a baseball bat. Also? I've decided against using a fingerguard, and I like shooting barefoot, feeling the cool grass under my toes.

I should totally make a Kiera Knightley-as-Guinevere icon for these posts. :)

I almost fell off my chair. Fellow Whitman fiends, be forewarned!

And in other news, music theory is eating my brain. Explain to me why a (ii) chord has to be called a secondary leading chord of (III) when followed by (III) even though it's the same damn chord?! Prof says that technically it's only a (ii) if followed by something in the circle of fifths (ie - V). Um. Have you met Beethoven? Chopin? Britten? Anyone who wrote after the Classical era? They scoff at your petty circle of fifths! I'm in favor of calling a spade a spade, and a two chord a two chord. If it's altered, then we can talk.
