I've been working on revamping my icon/wallpaper site all day. Only two more sections to go- Misc. Icons and Queer as Folk US icons. Yay.
Yesterday's trip to DC was fun- it was Heather, Rac and I, plus Heathe're high-school buddy, Stu. Boy's friggin' gigantic- 6'5"! At any rate, we gelt quite safe, considering his nickname is Guido, the bodyguard.
We saw the Smithsonian Natural History museum, and I spent lots of time looking at ancient Goddess and bull figurines from the fertile crescent. I took some pictures- I hope that they turn out. The dinosaur exhibit has always been one of my favorites- I simply cannot wrap my brain around the concept of
150 million years ago. It's completely incomprehensible to me that I was looking at something that old.
We went to Pentagon City for lunch- at this cheap, but delicious noodle restaurant where I got buttered noodles with shrimp for only $6. It was delicious, and we all swapped bowls- let me tell you, they have the most incredible macaroni and cheese I have ever tasted. There's also a gorgeous mall right near the station, with all sorts of gorgeous clothes that this poor college student cannot afford. *sigh* But it was pretty- all balconies and glass ceilings.
We did the monuments at night- we walked from the Metro station in the mall past the Washington Monument straight to the Lincoln Memorial, where we took a short rest. The water in the reflecting pool was really low because of the construction of the WWII memorial at the bottom- I actually got to walk in the reflecting pool where there would ordinarily be water. There was still enough for the ducks to swim, which was really cool in the reflecting water.
Buy the time we walked
all the way back to the Metro station in the pouring rain (and no umbrella), it was closed, and we had to walk even further towards one that was open. All said and done, we got home at around 1:30, having had the singular experience of belting out
Rent into the rain with my equally insane friends- a true test of a great bond. My favorite part- "La Vie Boheme"'s line about "mucho masturbation" right next to the gigantic phallic symbol that is the Washington monument. We were absolutely soaking wet and my hair was actually doing a great impression of Aragorn's. :)
I was back in my room by 3 am, but I couldn't sleep- I finally managed at 5:30. I'm on duty tonight at 9, and now that my sheets are washed, I must shower...
Mini-gip... I got
Hackers on DVD. Yay for old school Angelina. :)
