I managed not to smite the sorority girls last night. By the sixth time I came out of my room, I was simple supremely irratable. I believe I told one guy to either shut up or get out before I went middle school on him. So, yeah. I very much needed a shot of Tequila after that one.
But in a way, they got their own punishment. Today's a snow day, and classes were cancelled. Therefore, no cleaning staff reported in. That means they have to live with a beer soaked, sticky, smelly floor until Monday. I am so glad that I don't live on that hall.
Seriously, is it too much to ask that people just have a little respect for those around them? I can't stand going into the bathrooms to find urine still in the toilets and the toilet seat up in the girls' bathroom, beercans scattered around the floor, and the lingering stench of vomit. Other people live here, and it is not your right to fuck up their living space. Do whatever you want to your room, but if it starts to seep into others' rooms or common areas, you're out of line.
Monday is the deadline for RA reapplication. I'd like to be an RA next year, but I did not take this job to become a policeman, and I feel like that's all I do. I think that ultimately, wether or not I remain an RA next year will rather depend on where I'm placed. If I am placed in either Blanche or McDaniel, I will decline the offer. I want to live in a building where residents respect one another, not think that because they're in a Greek organization that I have no right to tell them not to be obnoxious. If my package comes with an area that includes an apartment, house, or suite, all the better. I may have to deal with the policing shit, but at least I won't have to live in squalor.
