Still alive. It's been a strange weekend.

I saw Love Actually, and it was the cutest damn thing ever.

The cast was absolutely superb. The acting was spot-on. Most notably, I loved Liam Neeson and his character's stepson, and also Colin Firth and Lucia Moniz as people who fall in love despite a language barrier.

I agree with Heather that certain threads could have been dropped to allow more concentration on the more emotional threads (I would have liked to see more resolution on the Emma Thompson/Alan Rickman thread).

Random thoughts:

-Keira Knightly, you are a beautiful, beautiful girl. But for the love of all things good and holy, eat a goddamn cheeseburger.

- I don't think I was alone in thinking that the "pudgy" (aka size 7) girl was the most gorgeous in the entire move.

-Usually, I feel like I shouldn't like Hugh Grant because he's so damn smarmy. But he was so perfect in this movie. I laughed for a solid five minutes when he did his dance.

-Billy Bob was a perfect choice for the US President. I just wish our presidents weren't so damn sketchy.

-Bill Nighy was incredibly funny.

-Rodrigo Santoro, who played Laura Linney's crush, is gorgeous. So much so that in the middle of the movie, Mike turned to me and whispered, "My god. That man is beautiful." And yes, we are a very special couple.

-The nude standins were so cute. They were one of the things that could have been cut for the theatrical release, but I got a kick out of them.

Overall, it was very very sugary. Almost overkill. But it's the holidays, and the movie was so damn cute. And I felt all warm and fuzzy, which I guess is the point.
