Questions posed to me by my lovely roomate, Heather (
evergleam83).
1. Alexis Denisof, Angelina Jolie, and Eliza Dushku all decide they want to have sex with you, but you only have time for one of them. Who do you choose?
Alexis Denisof. Yes. Unless they're up for a foursome, that is.
2. What is your ideal career, if time and money and anything else were no object?
I would love to be a singer in lovely, lavish, colorful, interesting shows. I'd like to do a burlesque show once. Maybe make an action movie and be terribly badass. And then I'd write a young adult novel.
3. Top 3 favorite books, what are they and why?
Dune by Frank Herbert. This book just has a ridiculous number of levels. It operates mythologically, religiously, politically, and ecologically all at once. The complexity of the book blows my mind, and the plot's pretty damn compelling, too.
The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde. The prose is sheer poetry. The central metaphor is so strong and timeless, and Wilde's wit undercuts the whole thing... it's just a literary masterpiece.
Waking the Moon by Elizabeth Hand. Okay. So the mythology is a bit wonky. And it can't decide if it wants to feminist or cynical. Personally, I can't really figure out Hand's main point because the entire ending is kind of WTF? The reason why I like this book is because I'm in love with the characters. Sweeney, Angelica, Annie, and Oscar are so well drawn and I love them all. Plus the writing itself is beautiful
Honorary mentions: all of the mythological encyclopedias that I own.
4. Who/what are your creative influences?
As far as what? Music? I guess I'd say Madonna. I was raised on Madonna, and I think her ballsy, liberated character definitely had a strong hand in influencing the way I perform and also the way I am. As far as poetry, I'd say that you can see the definite influence of Sappho (imagery) and ee cummings (syntax) in my writing. As for my fiction, I'm not exactly sure. I'd have to think about that one.
5. Exactly how many different scary faces do you think you can make? Have you ever used your power for evil?
Well, I know I have at least 8, two for each sibling. They vary from "I'm going to eat your babies" to "run, just run." And no, not for evil, yet. But the time will come. Oh yes, it will come. >:P
