Listens: OutKast -- Hey Ya

I have had an absolutely lovely weekend so far. Not even being forced to visit the parental units has dampened it. :)

Heather and I had a girls' night Friday after Rac was dropped off at the train station. After letting me use a guest pass to pig out at GLAR (why oh why did they choose the year I don't have a meal plan to put in an ice cream topping bar complete with rainbow sprinkles??), she packed for home, making me the sole occupant of the apartment for the weekend.

Mike showed up at about 5:30 yesterday, even though I had a 7-9 drum circle. We hung out in bed for a bit doing the "I haven't seen you all week" cuddle thing that obnoxious couples like us tend to do. And yes. He very much approves of my backseamed thigh-high stockings. Very much. To the point that I wish I had it on tape, because it was absolutely lovely.

But anyway, I left for my drum circle, giving him my keys because he said he needed to go to the store. The drum circle was quite interesting. I mostly played smaller drums for my first time-- I find that I'm better with sharply percussive instruments than more mellow ones. I even played a gourd. :)

As I was walking back to the apartment, I noticed the blinds to the kitchen flutter and the light go out. Mike met me at the door and led me by the hand up the stairs as he instructed me to close my eyes. As I entered the apartment, the smell of warm garlic bread greeted me.

He had the lights off, soft music playing, candles lit, and he'd cooked for me a full Italian meal of fettuccine with chunky garlic tomato marinara, garlic toast, a side salad with baby greens, and an absolutely exquisite (and potent) red wine.

I melted.

It was a lovely dinner.

We then went to see Kill Bill. We got to the theater about half an hour before the showtime. We like to sit near the top middle, and there was one specific aisle we were gunning for. Two guys on the other side of the theater were rapidly heading towards it.

We meet nearly at the same time. Of course, who else could it have been but Timmy? Such a weird coincidence. :) He was rather liquored up but still managed to hold a lucid conversation.

The movie was amazing, by the way. I loved Uma Thurman and Lucy Liu. Icons will come soon, as well as commentary. But I was awed.

Mike and I slept in until 11:30 this morning before we took a shower for two. I had some business to take care of, so we went to the mall. I ended up getting part of Anna's birthday gift and also 1/4 lb. pumpkin spice coffee for me to try tomorrow morning, as I will probably leisurely rise around 11am to make myself sausage and eggs in my pajamas. I also noticed beautiful fall colors beginning to flush across the foliage. I'm so excited and awed by the beauty of these crimsons and russets and ochers.

I bought Adrian two cigars for his birthday and my mother caught me up on the most recent gossip goings on in our family. She was surprisingly tolerable today. On another happy note, they've aquired an espresso machine that they will never use. Which means there's a very good chance that I'll have an espresso machine for Christmas. My mother wouldn't be able to tell the difference between Jamaican Blue Mountain and Dunkin' Donuts decaf.

So-- cake, ice cream. Chit chat. I didn't have much time to visit with my kitties, but Martin, the former 22lb behemoth, is now half the size he was last year. He's been losing weight chasing the younger kitties around. Adrian remarked that we're going to have to buy floor polish now, as Martin's stomach won't buff the floors any longer. Zoe, as usual, was a priss and Harley skulked about, getting a bit heavy. My Lady girl is feeling much better-- the vet cleared up her ear infection and she's running about as well as ever.

Mike and I finished up the weekend with sandalwood-oiled back massages. Aren't you jealous that I have one of the best guys on this earth? You should be. :)

Anyway, I'm going to bed now. Sweet dreams.
