Va-Ca-Tion!

Hey all. Just dropping a brief line to say I had a blast on my miniature adventure. The drive up was full of Counting Crows and Tori Amos, which is never a bad thing.

Our room was g-o-r-g-e-o-u-s. The view was fantasic-- oceanfront and so high up that we could see the entire coast and the city aglow at nighttime.

The jacuzzi was right in the bedroom, and we took full advantage of it, and the unbelievable mounds of bubbles it produced.

We had a fancy dinner (Phillips') and a more low-key one (pizza on the beach, feeding the gulls that stalked us), and I marked Lammas by sitting on our balcony in a long bathrobe, sipping red wine.

We got old time pictures done, so when I get back, I'll be posting the two of us as old west gunslingers. Some of my crappy camera's pics of our view actually turned out, too.

We did the giant ferris wheel, and for added excitement, at one point, we were evacuated from our hotel because of a smoke emergency (the trek back up to the top floor via stairs was such a nice cardio workout).

I did get my nighttime walk on the beach, but as the moon was only a few days old, it didn't light up the ocean like I'd hoped. Still, the water was cool, and smelled so fresh. We got up for a sunrise on a misty morning, watching the greens and pinks filter through the clouds and the beach begin to fill with early-morning joggers. Then we went back to sleep in our king-sized bed.

Mmmm. And I got fudge.

So, those were the highlights-- maybe Mike will add a few, since he commented in my last entry about my whole money hang-up thing.

But for now-- adios.
