This and that

Good weekend. I spent the bulk of it reading technique books and getting inspired for Spring updates. Contacting suppliers and other artisans about getting custom-made, unique components.

I've also been finalizing the formula for the Valentine's/Lupercalia intent oil I'll be releasing in the next update. I really, really like it. It's a blend for drawing love into one's life-- not necessarily romantic love, but meaningful connection in whichever form you most need it. Obviously, the practitioner can focus it in a specific direction with his/her energy-raising, but its purpose is to draw the kind of love that enriches and gently revitalizes the practitioner-- whether that be romantic, familial, or deepening friendship. Plus, it smells awesome. It's rosey, but not in a grandma or headache floral sort of way. More of a tea rose-- light and soft and Spring-y. It's balanced by a spritz of lemon and a fluffy, slightly gourmand vanilla. It overall just smells very happy. I'm planning on releasing it in a 1/2 oz glass bottle all prettified, and of course, filled with gemstones and herbs.

I was on BrambleBerry last night because I've been noodling around with the idea of intent candles to match my intent oils. I have soy wax to start, wicks, and a bunch of travel tin-style containers. I needed to grab a few extra candle-safe fragrance oils, as the EOs I use in my intent pendants & oils are not necessarily safe for candles. Now, I have everything I need, save a double boiler-- I want one that has a numerical temperature gauge for safety reasons. I'll probably pick one of those up later this week and do a test batch in the new scent blend. We shall see. I would eventually like to start offering intent-specific 7-knob candles once I get the technique down, because I use them often and I know plenty of others who do, too.

On a happy Olive note-- she has a vet appt on Wednesday to have her eyes looked at, but some of tamnonlinear's awesome veterinary opthamologist family members looked at pictures / videos of poor little Bean and seem to think she's got Haws syndrome, which, in the vast scheme of things, is a monumental relief. We're still of course going to have our vet lay eyes on her to confirm, but it helped my anxiety immensely. I mean, she's a perfectly affectionate, happy cat and she's eating fine and playing fine. We've just switched them to an all wetfood diet and will also be consulting the vet on which brands are best for boosting immunity.

Asides:

-- Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs was really quite cute. I don't usually get into animated movies, but it genuinely made me laugh. I'd recommend it.

-- Dear Diane Kruger, I am totally jealous of you. Yes you're pretty and genuinely talented* and stuff, but I have to say, one of my lifelong goals is to have Pacey Witter hold an umbrella for me while I'm wearing a fantabulous dress, and you lived the dream last night. Well played.

-- *Though I am sorry, Mélanie Laurent deserved the SAG nod way more than you did.

-- Golden Globes: YAY, Toni Collette! Well deserved win. Also, John Lithgow, you creepy bastard, well done. And Michael C. Hall. It was a good night for Showtime.

-- Ugh, some of the casting choices and the general tone of the jokes in The Hangover totally make my fucking skin crawl, and Sady Doyle totally hit the nail on the head about Mike Tyson's inclusion in the movie/ Golden Globes last night.

-- I now do avow and affirm my lifelong love of potato latkes at any time of the day.
