A list of lovely things.
I've been sort of cranky lately, so I decided to follow the lead of my friends
mermaiden &
sidhe_etain and do a list of lovely things in my life right now.
-- Strawberries & Cream Oatmeal. Not a luxury item, but it makes me feel so good inside on a chilly morning. It's a remnant from my childhood-- I make mine more like oatmeal soup, with lots of milk, and it's so soothing and delicious.
-- The Noxman. I love all of my kitties, but Nox has been my special guy this week. If I'm sick, he knows it, and sidles up his bulk to cuddle his warm self against my belly. He runs up to me to give me kisses when I walk in the door. He's cuddled up against my hip as I type, stretching out his funny turkey legs. I just love his big, expressive eyes and his sweet, goofy personality. He knows that he's part of our family. He makes my life better by being in it.
-- My new mohair socks. Jason got me thigh high, bright red mohair jambieres from Sock Dreams for Christmas, and they are so soft and warm and comforting.
-- Wearing Jason's hoodies. His smell + soft, enveloping, well-worn cotton. Perfect.
-- Sorting seed beads. My big task at the shop lately has been transferring all of our seed beads (11s, 8s, 8ts, and 6s) from little, spillable baggies into sturdier, more eye-pleasing tubes. It's taken me several weeks so far, but the end is in sight. I actually have enjoyed this repetitive task because a) seeing a massive amount of rainbow beads spilled out on a silver tray brings out my inner magpie, and b) organizing and sorting them satisfies my inner Virgo.
-- Christmas coffee. A friend sent me some as a Yule gift, and I need to get around to writing a thank you (actually, I have many thank yous I need to write), but the coffee in the care package was particularly delicious. Lightly flavored and spiced, but so, so, so smooth against my tongue.
-- On the theme of yummy things, hot chocolate. Two friends got me hot chocolate as a gift this year, luckily in different flavors. So far, my favorites have been the peppermint & the caramel (with a little sea salt mixed in)!
-- Labradorite. I've finished working with the pieces I got for the Tribal update, but I have some beautiful pieces planned for early spring, as well. I've found some really exceptional, magical golden aqua pieces lately. I am still on the lookout for elusive labradorite with purple flash-- it seems every time I find it, it's in cabochon form. Maybe that's a sign that I need to learn to bezel-set. But every time I find a great piece of labradorite, I just get so happy. It's my favorite stone, by far.
Okay, now to prepare for a busy day.
