Altar thoughts.
Despite my general disinterest in the Egyptian pantheon, I've felt a pull lately to devote a small altar space to Bast. I originally conceived the need for a small protection altar for my fuzzy children, so I started to research Deities who are protectors of animals-- specifically, domestic ones. Naturally, this led me to Bast.
The more I research Bast, the more I find funny coincidences. Goddess protector of women. Patroness of dancing. Likes perfume as a form of veneration.
You know, stuff that totally clicks with my life.
Only... I feel sort of odd plucking her out of the context of her pantheon. But really, no connection to the wider Egyptian pantheon, at all.
In any case, maybe a small test altar, just to see how it goes. Ointment jars, maybe this icon, and spices. We'll see.
