Stuff and also things.

I am exhausted as far as political and social issues goes. Yesterday was not a good day, what with talk of two serial rapists in Baltimore, the situation in Maine, and the general pervasiveness of idjits on the intarwebs. There were two bright spots: both the Emma Thompson thing and the fact that Expedia is now sucking up hardcore to catvalente due to public outcry, and she and her husband are on their way to Russia.

I even managed to get a fair amount of custom work done yesterday-- today is packing and shipping and a rehearsal with swords. My dance life invaded my dreamspace last night. On Belladonna's sword DVD, there's a move called the "Slash and Drag" that try as we might, Flissy and I just cannot get. A big part of that, I'm sure, is that the DVD was filmed face to face, instead of the traditional back to the audience, front to the mirror. So I not only have to figure out the move, but flip it to mirror it. And I'm really, really bad at that sort of thing. I can't figure out the Slash and Drag to save my life, even freeze framing it, so I guess I'll just have to ask her in person or something. But anyway, in my dream, I was going to her class for a final exam on swordwork, and I had to perform the Slash and Drag, and I just froze. And suddenly, I was pantsless and I couldn't pull my pants back on. Brain, you are so obvious.

In the realm of other things that are not particularly newsworthy, my 10/1 Haunt order fiiiiinally touched down.

Autumn Rite Soap: sweetish pumpkin. 'Course, dry soap mostly smells all alike to me. I have to get 'em in the shower before I can actually distinguish notes.

Golden Pumpkin Soap: sweetish, ambery pumpkin. See above.

Golden Pumpkin Scrub sample: Smells a lot like MadHatterSoap's Midnight in the Pumpkin Patch, which I already have a full jar of. Pumpkin + smells like apricots or something. Glad I didn't splurge on it.

Rowan Skin Glossing Oil: So decidedly un-Halloweeny! The strongest note is definitely the peach blossom, so I'm guessing this will go gloriously with my BPAL Aglaea in the spring. Or Peach Moon, for that matter. I get a little plumeria in there, too, and then a faint candyish topnote. Really nice.

Winchester Perfume Oil: Just from first sniff, this is ambery leather-- brown saddle leather, like Dead Man's Hand. Will report back once I have slathered husband. ETA: Have slathered husband-- surprisingly, the main note is amber, with a little leather. Not too much throw. But nice.

Pumpkin Cake Lip Lust: reminds me a lot of Trader Joe's Maple Cookies. I don't get anything particularly pumpkiny, but I do get creamy icing and light spices.
