Book of Shadows!

Did I ever post pics of my BOS from Earthworks Journals? I've been working on it for almost a month now. I also commissioned a truly stunning cover page from joannabarnum / JoannaBarnum.Com-- check it out:

The letters are edged in gold, and the pentacle in silver.
I am planning to border it at the top and bottom with decorated ribbon.

Sooo pretty.

Tonight's plans involve the watching of Glee, the eating of asparagus and fish, and then some maple cocoa to reward myself for not having died when my uterus was trying to kill me earlier. I have been pretty good about following my new rule of no desserts during the workweek until the wedding, but today, I am making an exception.

Also, I got my BPAL Halloweenie decants! Quick sniff reviews-- will review these more fully throughout the week!

Under the Harvest Moon:: Blue and white musk, summer roses, wild crimson leaves, grey amber, carnation, lavender bud, and vanilla bean.
Amber and musk with the baaaaarest hints of vanilla and lavender.

Summer's Last Will and Testament:: Doomed summer, supported on the shoulders of winter and autumn: citrus-infused Baltic amber, red valerian, marigold, blood orange, and sunflower subdued by somber myrrh and dry geranium alongside the leaves of autumn and a breath of winter wind.
Citrus and bright flowers underscored by the faintest touch of the Lab's "Autumn Leaves" scent. Not quite vetiver, but very dry.

Boo:: Eerie billows of spun sugar, fluttering white cotton, and sheets of cream.
Like Milk Moon, but minus the buttery creaminess that made it nauseating. Nice.

Pomona:: Azaroles, nuts, and apple blossoms with red apple pulp, mulberry, blackberry, and pomegranate juice.
Preeeettty! It reminds me a little of Tintagel minus dragon's blood-- very warm. I definitely smell the apple blossom and the mulberry with a little tartness of pomegranate. Like it!

Samhain 2009:: Truly the scent of autumn itself -- damp woods, fir needle, and black patchouli with the gentlest touches of warm pumpkin, clove, nutmeg, allspice, sweet red apple and mullein.
The same as years past, only lighter-- this one ages into a thick, goopy yumminess, but it's nice to have something newer and fresher.

Suck It:: Sexy and suckable: black cherry brandy.
This was a freebie tossed in, and it needs a new home. I do not do scents like this-- it's straight up cherry lollipop.

Pumpkin 1:: Pumpkin, almond, brown musk, and honey.
Exactly what the description says. This smells like a delicious pastry topping-- like pecan pie or somesuch. It's almost too foody, but not quite. Yum.

Pumpkin 2:: Pumpkin, rosewood, red sandalwood, and tea rose.
Surprising! The rosewood and tea rose really stand out. This is delightful.

Cristina:: Chestnut trees, juniper berries, violet leaf, labdanum, dazzling, moonlit white musk, and night-blooming summer flowers.
Well, it does smell nocturnal. It's well blended and the only note I could pick out for sure was the labdanum, but it's not thick and heavy like many of the Lab's labdanum blends.

Mircalla, Countess Karnstein:: Languid, melancholy fire: red musk, purple orchid, frankincense, smoky vanilla, Styrian herbs, peru balsam, tonka, Zanzibar clove, and patchouli.
This is definitely in the Snake Oil / Madame Moriarity family. I smell red musk, spicy clove, a drop of patchouli, and the roundness of frankincense and vanilla.
