welp I should probably post in this thing SO

My thoughts on Tim Drake and how they relate to my stupid teenage life, LET ME TELL YOU THEM, LJ. (More specifically, my feelings regarding rape and Fabian Nicieza.)

Because I don't feel entirely comfortable with tumblr yet, especially not enough to text ramble, so I'm sticking this here on my unused LJ.

Let's just start out with the last page of Red Robin #24: What a way to go! And now my feelings.

As ridiculous as this makes me feel because I don't usually relate to my favorite characters (I find Bart and Aang adorable and I only relate to Miharu a little), I relate to Tim a lot and kindasortasometimes use him as a role model or a reason to just fucking study. This isn't why I like him; his overly serious narration and dorky puns in Robin were endearing and then everyone died and if that didn't just break my Timmy-loving heart. But Tim Drake, aside from breaking the law sometimes as a vigilante and lying to everyone and the goddamn Batman, is a straight-laced teenager. He doesn't drink, he doesn't do drugs, and he's not interested in sex. He's incredibly intelligent and dedicated to helping people and goddammit I respect that. Sure, he's socially awkward and kind of a douche to girls inadvertently, but he means well. I relate to this. It's nice to have a teenager in the media who isn't obsessed with sex, drugs, or drinking. It makes me feel better when my friends spend all day planning how they're going to get drunk that night together and one tells me it's tragic I've never gotten drunk or high. I'M SORRY YOU FEEL THAT WAY kid-who-uses-pot-as-their-cell-background, but I'm not interested. This might change when I go to college or reach the drinking age, but I'm not now, so I'd appreciate it if you kept your judgement to yourself while I stay a perfectly content nerdy virgin.

MOVING ON. I love Tim Drake and if a genius superhero doesn't need sex or teenage rebellion then neither do I. But either Fabian Nicieza doesn't realize this or he's trying to show up Tim/Kon fans because he just keeps massacring this character. It started with just mediocre writing, to making Tim more of an ass, to making out on rooftops with sexy maybe-criminals, to setting him up to be raped. Now, if I trusted DC to actually handle this correctly, I would be fine with a rape plot (since I love a good rape fic and with Tim's brooding, obsessing character it could be interesting), but I don't. Hell, no one does. This can go one of three ways: Tim bamfs his way out of those lackluster chains, he gets raped and likes it, or he gets raped and blows it off because he's Tim motherfucking Drake-Wayne and he's phased by nothing. That or Cass saves him because I'm honestly wondering how they're going to wrap this up AND feature her in the next issue. But the "what a way to go!" caption on that page really bothers me because really, DC? Really? You're going to be that flippant about raping a seventeen year old boy for his child? Or raping him and claiming it's not rape because all guys want sex, right? Especially when in the solicits for this issue, it makes it sounds like he's just being deflowered, not...forced into sex by an assassin that wants to kill him after taking his sperm.

Besides the whole actual rape plot, I'm bothered by the responses. Marcus To, flawless beautiful art god Marcus To, teased us a month ago when he drew this scene by tweeting something about how it'll make the fangirls happy. Naturally, people expected a shower scene, Tim and Kon making out, etc., not rape. I'm going to go ahead and assume he meant Tim in shackles and chains because well, that is pretty nice, and I'm willing to forgive Marcus To anything. Tumblr, however, is split about 40/60 between DC WHY ARE YOU RAPING TIM to LOL LOOK AT TIMMY'S FACE HE'S SO GAY. Which...I can't even. There shouldn't even be posts of this page with people laughing at it because what the fuck. He doesn't look terrified because oh my god there are BOOBS and he doesn't like those!! he only wants Kon's penis!! He looks terrified because he's fucking chained up in some tunnels under Paris, held captive by two assassins, one of which is determined to rape him, kill him, and then bear his child. What the fuck is wrong with you, tumblr. (Not to mention the rest of tumblr is too distracted crying over Cass and Steph being left out of the reboot because DC hates girls!!! Even though a metric fuckton of characters lost their books in the reboot, including popular rich straight white male Tim, while a bunch of minority characters gained books (not to mention Cass hasn't had a book in years), but that's a rant for another time.)

I'm just glad Fabian Nicieza won't be allowed to write Red Robin anymore come September. At this point, Swan Queen Tim will probably be an improvement. (Unless he gets deflowered, decides he is now A Man, and decides to get a new costume, which is just ridiculous enough to be worked into the reboot.)

tl;dr: Nicieza, if you deflower my Timmy just because you can via badly written rape, I will unleash all of my virgin rage upon you.

In other news, I'm done with high school and I went to England in March.

I didn't know it was possible, but today I encountered drama over fundraisers. yes, that's right, motherfucking fundraisers. I don't think I've mentioned it, but my friends and I run a joint environmental/community service club (we manage the recycling program in the school and we do fundraisers several times a year) and two years ago we started a fundraiser of selling candy canes that we planned to keep up every year. it did really well. so the class of 2012 decided last year in september to sign up to get permission to sell candy canes for the holidays to raise money for their class (which essentially just means their prom tickets are cheaper). and the school said "bitch, no" because it's our club's thing. but the club adviser was out on maternity leave last year during that time so we couldn't do it and they got pissed. so they decided to try again this year. except we got clearance instead because IT'S OUR THING. and now the junior class is pissed at us because they wasted money buying candy canes before they got clearance by trying to steal our fundraiser idea a second time. they actually confronted us about it, asking why we're fucking selling candy canes and saying we shouldn't because they're wrapped in plastic idek. which came down to us telling them we're donating the money to charity and maybe they shouldn't buy things without getting clearance first so they backpedaled and claimed they were joking.

WHY WOULD YOU THINK YOU'RE ENTITLED TO THIS WHEN WE DID IT FIRST AND YOU FAILED TO GET CLEARANCE TWICE you disgusting excuse for a human being. holy shit you have like two other year-long fundraisers for your class as well as a million other one time things. sorry for wanting to donate to fucking charity you fantastic cunt.

and DECA can apparently sell cookies all day long and it's fine but delivering candy canes during school hours violates the health policy. are you fucking kidding me. way to cut our sales since now people have to pick them up after school ends. this school is a giant mess of stupid.

wow, um. WHAT A QUESTION. I can never answer these types of questions with just one choice, so have a list. (as a warning, they'll all probably be for school since I have lost since lost the amount of free time necessary to support my once obsessive reading habit.)

1) As I Lay Dying by William Faulkner. I read this last year for AP Lang and Comp and WOW DO I LOVE IT. half because I enjoy making fun of it and half because it's amazing. essentially some southerner's mother dies and she's a gigantic bitch so they have to cart her across the state to bury her as she's rotting since they only have a horse-drawn wagon. also there's some incest, adultery, failed abortions, and an abundance of wood metaphors. also metaphysics.

2) Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov. this was so creepy that I felt dirty just reading it. and I have a high tolerance for that sort of thing.

3) The Centaur by John Updike. PETER YOU GODDAMN LITTLE POOFER. I started out hating this because wow that first chapter is pretty hideous if you haven't read the rest of the book, but when I had to read the rest of it in one day for the test, I quickly became absorbed in it and started to love it. basically it's the tale of a teacher and his son's mundane lives juxtaposed with that of greek gods'. and their car just never works ever.

4) A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess. I actually first read this in ninth grade and reread it this year for the same teacher. I just. I really love this book.

5) My Bonny Light Horseman: Being an Account of the Further Adventures of Jacky Faber In Love and War by L.A. Meyer. I THINK this was this year, so. idk I really love this series (despite not having the time to read the latest books argh and despite some cliches) and I read all god I think like 600 pages of this book one Saturday. it was pretty intense. crossdressing badass pirate? yes please.

and I'm hoping I can get through Ptolemy's Gate before the year is up because goddamn I love the Bartimaeus Trilogy and I always forgot to read this one. and I want to read that prequel so bad.

HAHA yes I am aware this list is all classic lit WHAT OF IT. I don't actually have taste I just take AP english.

okay now back to killing myself over this ap bio textbook. THIS IS WHY I DON'T HAVE TIME TO READ.

day thirteen, this week
hmm. I don't think I did anything exciting this week? the usual after school stuff of coffee and KFC with friends (we have to go to the starbucks next to KFC since our usual is under renovation...). I put off a lot of my homework this week by doing it in school or waiting until this weekend to do it. also did a lot of painting of boxes for O.Y.E. (which stands for open your eyes, which is our school's environmental club that also does fundraisers for charity and shit that my friends and I inherited from the seniors who founded it) since the janitors threw out all the boxes we use for recycling over the summer that took probably three years to get to all the classrooms. we basically do all the paper recycling for the school so we had to steal a fuckton of boxes from everywhere and paint them all and label them all and distribute them. which still isn't done in its third week. fuck the janitors.

day fourteen; what you wore today
hahaaaa oh god I was pretty hideous today. I rarely put in effort on fridays, especially humid fridays. messy braid, jeans, sneakers, blue camisole and one of those flowy sweater-type...things? not sure what they're called.

day fifteen; your dreams
I...cannot remember any dreams at the moment, so I'm assuming this means aspirations and goals? WELL! in that case, I don't really have any dreams because I'm a pessimist and prefer not to get my hopes up. I plan on working hard towards becoming a psychiatrist one day. not really sure what I'd do once I got there. (not sure if I'd get through my medical degree, really, but here's to hoping.) I kind of want to do research. I'm pretty much good with anything really. I'm one of those people who would be satisfied with a desk job and I'd like to live in relative comfort. I'd also like to become fluent in french one day. I also want to live someone pretty cold, whether that means leaving america or not. (ideally, I'd like to leave america if I can.)

yes, so! I finally caved and watched 'suffolk county state of mind.' it's pretty cute.

also, ap lit is pretty fucking awesome, if only because saying "hey teacher, I'm lazy and don't want to do this assignment" got the class an extension on a homework. and because he actually knows what catcher in the rye is about.

not a very good photo, but it pretty much shows what I like to do. it has my friends on a photo adventure, a beach at sunset, me attempting to be artsy, and my lens being silly. also, we are hooligans!!! and go in the water at night. and by 'go in the water' I mean 'get our feet wet.' we were really at the beach only for a moment-- that time right after the actual sunset when all the colors and light are slipping away. I love dusk.

ohhh dear. these have changed a bit in the last year. I'm no longer a stereotypical raging atheist!! but a liberal pussy of an atheist with a mild distaste for organized religion. this may be largely thanks to reading the Friendly Atheist, though even he is getting a bit too angry for my tastes lately. (I'm not sure if he's getting angrier or if I'm getting pussier...) I think Jesus is a pretty cool guy, though, and definitely appreciate when people actually take his teachings to mind instead of just saying they do. he's a good role model if not taken to the extreme.

as for morals, I'm not really picky. I'm a strong believer in the gray area and can't really make up my mind on certain issues. really, it just comes down to "are you hurting anyone? no? then continue."

I actually don't have a first love. I've had all of three crushes in my life and I don't particularly go about them the typical teenage way. By which I mean, I don't angst about how hard it is to live without them and why don't they want to date me and what do they see in him/her, etc.

I don't care. I don't particularly want to date them. The idea of dating creeps me out (especially because it's been warped to mean "hang out every day and have sex after a month or two"). I'm perfectly content with just being friends with someone. Apparently this is bizarre, since my best friend can't comprehend the fact that I'm not into pining for months for a friend that's not going to date me anyway. (Yeah, even if I were ~*~perfect~*~ 2 out of 3 of them were straight girls.)

I do love a lot of my friends and I'm grateful that I've come to know them well enough that I can feel that for them. I want them to be happy and their flaws don't particularly bother me anymore. At this point, it'll take a lot more than some deep, dark secret to change my opinion of these people. I didn't have a lot of close friends when I was younger and I don't particularly love my family (fuck obligation), so I guess that handful of people are my "first loves."

HELLO MY NAME IS Fish. Except it's actually Laura.

I'm 16 years old but I still mentally refer to myself as 15. This will continue until I turn 17 (November 3rd) and I think of myself as 16. In a few days, I'll be a senior in high school. I'm an AP/Honors student but I'm ridiculously lazy and lack common sense. I don't care about many classes if they don't involve language, but despite this, I want to major in psychology in college. I'm horrifically bad at math even though I somehow manage to pull B+s (I will never understand math if I can fail half the tests and get an 85). English is my forte, though I'm pretty good at French and Italian for the level I'm at. Chemistry makes me cry.

I live on Long Island. This means my worldview is a bit skewed as everyone here is Catholic or Jewish and white. I fucking love bagels and reheated pizza. My father is Jewish and my mother is Catholic, but my brother and I are atheists. I don't talk to my brother much.

I love the beach. But I hate the heat, so I only go during the evening for the sunset. I love going to Port Jefferson and buying pretentious loose tea and watching the sunset over the water. I think New York City is beautiful but my parents hate it so I don't go in a lot.

I have an odd sense of humor and talk mostly in monotone, so a lot of people think I'm a bitch when I joke with them. Though I'm a bitch for other reasons. I have a dirty mouth and don't particularly care if there are children around. I also have an irrational hatred for children.

My taste in music is varied. I enjoy indie, pop rock, pop, instrumentals, synthpop, alternative, musicals, and foreign music. My favorites are The Hush Sound, The Dresden Dolls, RADWIMPS, Superbus, Darren Criss, Owl City, Linkin Park (SHUT UP), Kyo, Coeur de Pirate, and more recently Cobra Starship. I'm a loser and enjoy Mozart l'Opéra Rock, Spring Awakening, Legally Blonde, and the Starkid productions. I was raised on Bruce Springsteen and the Beatles. I hate when people play their music loud and I tend to play mine at a volume where people claim they "can't hear it." Fuck you, no one wants to hear you blast your shitty music with your windows rolled down as you drive.

I'm terrified of bugs. Specifically, spiders and any type of bee-like thing. (I'm fairly sure my fear of spiders is near phobia level now.) Moths and beetles kind of freak me out, too.

I'm technically pansexual but tend to identify as bi irl because practically no one knows of pansexuality. I much prefer girls and am incredibly picky with boys. I don't like conventionally attractive men if they're anything near masculine.

I like to lurk on /fit/ a lot because it's surprisingly addicting. I started lifting weights eight months ago and it's really fun. I hate cardio with a passion. I'm eating a lot healthier now and can't eat processed food without feeling ill. I also literally cannot eat processed chicken, I gag. ;__; It's a bit ridiculous.

mmmm so. august went by ridiculously fast. nearly failed the activity check for witchesreign because I wasn't paying attention ahaha asjdfhg. ...still haven't done my ap bio assignment.

kitten-sat again, which accounts for a few days of 'where did the time go?' didn't get a lot of sleep again because she wants to cuddle everyday at 6am like clockwork. :c

my current mission is to finally fucking finish heart gold. just need to beat red...! which. involves getting my pokemon to level 80+ sob. I'm nearly there though!! I haven't played this since ap exams. LEVEL 65 ARON hahaha it's so ridiculous.

and! and! the most important news!! unless something goes horribly wrong (the venue burning down, we don't show up on time, fans crawl out of the woodwork and there's no more room, etc), I'm seeing darren criss live this saturday! but I haven't been to nyc in a few months, so I'm excited. I was incredibly pissed because I couldn't see him last time he was in the city so this makes it okay. A-AAHH I'M EXCITED.

but...nabari has been my main fandom for over two years. I don't know what I'm going to do without a new chapter every month. the fandom is probably going to die soon, with the anime being over for years and no more onemanga. and...yeah. I don't know. it's really impacted me a lot, from icons to weird fetishes to love to intersexuality to roleplay to friends.

so. YES OKAY and so, sunset. it was really low tide, so there were lots of ridiculous sandbars. at one point we were a couple hundred feet out, which we...realized was a mistake once the tide started coming back in.

me and the guy friend trying to get back to shore, taken by the biffle. sob it took like a half hour. that was one of the closest sandbars.

early on during the sunset. it was so beautiful. 8(

riiight after the sun went down. this kid went even further into the water than us to fish. with no bucket...?

stop fucking telling me that I need to eat 1200 calories to fucking MAINTAIN MY WEIGHT. you don't know anything. you are wrong for many reasons. so stop fucking spouting out inaccurate information from some teen magazine you read a year ago.

1200 calories = what you eat for WEIGHT LOSS. hell you can eat more than that for weight loss if you fucking want. (fun fact: I eat 1200-1500 calories a day anyway so shut the fuck up I know how to control what I eat the rest of the day if one of my meals is 400 calories)

also just because I'm overweight and the majority of females don't exercise (INCLUDING YOU HAHAHA NICE WEIGHT OBSESSION WITHOUT ACTUALLY DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT) doesn't mean I don't. thanks for assuming that though.

yeah so for christmas I got this beautiful camera HNNNGH IT IS SO WONDERFUL. and I finally have a digital camera again. (orz that link isn't to flaunt the price or anything (especially since that's really cheap for a dslr and isn't what mine cost). it's just the first link google gave me.)

The Adventure Of The Bear

Miharu and Yoite were out for an incandescent Valentine's walk around the mountains. As they went, Yoite rested his hand on Miharu's chest. It was the most romantic walk ever. But even though the day was so adonic, Miharu was filled with voluptuous dread.

"Do you suppose it's spell-binding here?" he asked smoothly.

"You shimmering silly," Yoite said, tickling Miharu with his scarf. "It's completely sweaty."

Just then, a juicy bear leapt out from behind a scroll and licked Yoite in the ass. "Aaargh!" Yoite screamed.

Things looked glowing. But Miharu, although he was beastly, knew he had to save his love. He grabbed a bong and, like a wild stallion that has yet to be broken, beat the bear girlishly until it ran off. "That will teach you to lick innocent people."

Then he clasped Yoite close. Yoite was bleeding silkily. "My darling," Miharu said, and pressed his lips to Yoite's groin.

"I love you," Yoite said sexily, and expired in Miharu's arms.

Miharu never loved again.
