Description

Despite the ambitions of Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan, integrating complex cancer data across systems remains a major obstacle. The European Health Data Space (EHDS) seeks to address these gaps, although challenges around interoperability, privacy, and infrastructure remain. In this context, PATH transformS cancer care by leveraging secure data exchange and digital technologies to improve early detection, diagnosis, treatment, and long-term patient outcomes. Through the integration of AI tools into clinical workflows, PATH will foster a safe, ethical, and sustainable healthcare ecosystem, aligned with the Beating Cancer Plan and the EHDS.
SHINE takes a versatile role throughout the 42-month duration of the PATH project. In the early stages, SHINE takes a leading role in analysing the current state of the art, creating relevant and grounded use case scenarios and identifying potential barriers to adoption. Next, SHINE helps coordinate activities to actively engage expert stakeholders in the development of the PATH tools and towards the end of the project oversees the activities to analyse the project’s impact and derive valuable lessons learnt. Besides this, throughout the project, SHINE takes an active role in disseminating the project’s results and developing synergies with other relevant projects and activities in the domain of cancer care.
